Strange Sights

One of my favorite things to do in the morning is go for a walk around the campground. There's always something that will peak my interest. I’ve been doing this for 10 years and I always enjoy seeing unique RVs or unique campsite items.

This past trip was no different. I came across some tent campers that had a rather unusual “thing” on the roof of their van. When I first saw it I thought it was some weird type of light for the campsite, but as I got closer I thought it might be a homemade TV antenna. The campers weren’t outside and I didn’t want to knock on their tent flap so I never did find out exactly what it was.

What do you think it is, a light, a TV antenna, or something else?

You are so right. Not that is weird.

My money is on "homemade" TV antenna for a TV in the van. The bucket might cover a motor to rotate the wing elements.

On second thought, after rewading the 'pet peave' thread yesterday, I think it's some kind of electronic device that wards off barking dogs, dogs that poop on your site, kids that are loud & unruley, people that walk thru your site, drunks after 2AM, kids with RC cars, etc.

I think you're right, it's an ARCZ, (anti-respectful camper zapper). OC N T FAB N CHASSIS shop are in the final stages of making the tooling. Production to start in the near future.

I'll guess it could be a Wi-Fi or cell phone antenna. maybe a booster under that bucket.

I was thinking it was a lamp shade for the drunks to wear when the party gets really crazy. The antennae is so the host can communicate to the drunk that the party is over without having to yell, therefore angering nearby campers. That tripod is simply the rack for it. Once the lamp shade is on the tripod, the party is over.

UFO detector. UFO's get too close, it emits a high pitched squeal designed to drive off aliens coming to abduct someone!

I think it is "the homeland security van 7" -- remember when that was going around about renaming you wi-fi service a while back!

I can't say anyone was abducted, but it did seem strange that all the other campsites around them were empty.
