This was on the road today

On my way back from Auburn today we came across this. We stopped to see that everyone got out OK. All were safe but the Motorhome was totaled. Their toad was saved the owner got out and in hooked it . Nothing we could do with 2 fire extinguishers Fire department showed right after the roof opened in a ball of flame. Sad way to end vacation. I never found out what caused it.

Saw similar fire on TV the other night. Front wheel caught on fire. Guy got out to fight but left wife and daughter (?) inside. They ended up needing help to get out rear window. The RV Dr. (actual name of business) happened to be driving by and stopped to help. All he could do is get bystander back because of propane tank. Total loss.

All I Know is I'm glad they were all out when I got there I'm thinking if I had to open the door to get someone out it would have become an inferno faster than it did. It was a know when to fight and when to retreat things, 2 fire extinguishers were not going to stop this. My wife has always insisted that our trailers have 2 doors, her fathers house burned and she went to get her brothers and the only out was the porch roof.

Once the Fire department took over the scene we were able to leave and we were able to leave and never found out it did appear to be toward the rear where it started but wasn't appearing to be coming from the engine compartment. I don't know what is above the engine but I think it was the bedroom I know fire rises but it did appear to be at least half way up the unit tires were in good. Just guessing but I would say electrical and they might have had a vent open so they didn't sense it until it was too late. Was wondering why the smoke alarm didn't let them to know it was happening and think any smoke was sucked out the vent.

Glade every body was safe. I had a similar instance in 1982 with a brand new Winnebago, burnt to the ground frame only left also my Jayco pop up behind the Winne got torched also. We where lucky also every body got out. Gas spilling out the fuel tank connection on exhaust pipe was the cause. Winnebago replace the MH but not camper. Later RJD

Glad everyone made it out. Hate seeing stuff like this, especially when we're headed out in a few days for a month.
