Medically, she is doing very well. Her doctor and her nurses have been pleased with her progress.
Can't get over how expensive dialysis is. Glad we are double insured or it would be a burden; for sure. Also can't get over how little is actually reimbursed to the company by the insurance.
For example: for one week of her dialysis (they bill by the week):
Billed by dialysis company: $ 16,399.05
Allowed by Blue Cross: $ 1,820.00
Paid by Blue Cross: $ 1,120.00
My Copay: $ 700
Paid by Tricare (my military medical benefit) $ 700.00
I don't understand any of this; but somehow it all seems to work and they smile when we show up for the monthly clinics.

Glad Laura is doing better.....and im also glad i live in Canada.

In response to kuba & gljurczyk re: medical systems. Our (Canada) ain't that great either! Ours is universal and free because we all pay thru taxes, however wait until you need to see a specialist and you get put on a waitlist. Oh! right that's why they call it a waitlist cause you wait, wait , wait! Too bad we couldn't take the best of both systems and make one that really works. My apologies for ranting off topic.

Prayers for you two. I'm glad she's doing well medically. Praying that things get better emotionally.
Give her a hug from Korea!

Herk, prayers to you and your bride. I've been away from the forum for a while and had not heard about your DW until I stumbled onto this thread. God bless you both!

On phone.
We are on our first "away" trip since she got sick.
We are up near Hazleton, PA with friends for the 4th.
Real good prep for the New York rally this coming weekend.
She is much better; though it still looks like she will need a minor surgery to reposition her catheter one day soon. Still some pain during the PD drain.
We discovered a new Mod for the cycler when traveling and the PD nurses are going to spread the word through their channels.
Also invented a way for her to use a hot tub and swim with it.
See you in New York and/or Goshen. If not; see you on the road!

Mr. Herk that's AWESOME news! SO glad to read you've both taken this in stride, made adjustments and it's not keeping y'all from traveling and camping! Hot tubbin' and swimmin' is icing on the cake!
