Lots to be thankful for:

Son, Daughter-in-law and the two grandsons (12 and 10) were home from Seattle.

Nearly everyone was at the Buck Hotel for Thanksgiving dinner which was outstanding.

My 91 (nearly 92) year old dad had a syncope episode Thanksgiving evening with everyone at the house; luckily it seems he was just dehydrated and the rich food and wine was a bit much for him. There were 4 Trauma/First Aid trained family members (including the 12 year old ) there and he was awake and talking within seconds of getting him flat with his legs elevated. We never even needed to get the AED off the hall shelf.

Laura's dressings have been "dry" after dialysis for the last 5 days, is healing nicely, and we may be going back on the cycler this week.

All in all, a good week...

Glad to hear she is doing better. Nothing like having family around. Very familiar with the Buck Hotel.

The love on the universe is with both

Laura & Lou,
The universe is filled with love for all mankind. It is looking upon both of you at this moment. Know that it has you in it's care and will follow a path that is meant for you both.

so glad things are going well and both Laura and your dad are doing ok. Hopefully going back on the cycler goes well and you get to resume camping next season.

Glad to hear that you had your family for Thanksgiving as this is what holidays are all about-"Family". Give Laura a big hug and kiss from Diane and me. We continue to pray for Laura. You are a dedicated husband and our prayers are with you as well.

Laura is back on the cycler for the first time since early October.
It was a complete success with no alarms and a full night's sleep.

This is a huge deal.

She also met with the Lankenau Transplant folks yesterday and was put on the list for another year. We were briefed that our wait time for a compatible cadaver kidney is running about 5 more years.

Turns out there were 3 possible "swap" matches last year, but all 3 had "extra blood vessels" that made a transplant very risky for Laura.

She is blood type B (a rare type complicated by rare protein markers) if anyone might be interested in the donor program who is TYPE O or B (Rh + or -is ok as Rh factor is not used).

Contact Kristina Coiro, Transplant Coordinator at Lankenau Medical Center, Wynnewood, PA at 484-476-8485 if you would like to be tested for compatibility with Laura Amadio or to save potentially several lives by entering the "swap" program. This is completely confidential and you will remain anonymous throughout the process unless you choose to let us know.

If you do contact Kristina, thank you.

As another who is on a list waiting for a kidney I can only echo the plea for folks to consider a donor program. You are literally saving a life.

It is a huge step but please consider at least being an organ donor upon your passing. Thousand of kidney patients die each year for lack of kidneys available.

Thank you

Yes, it has been a while, but other than "She is in better spirits", not much to report. Still on the kidney transplant list; still waiting for the computer to find a match in the swap program.

Looking forward to doing some camping this spring,
Cabin Fever Big Time.
