To all of our wonderful friends at the Forest River Forums:
Got a phone call this morning from Lankenau Kidney Transplant Hospital.
They found a match for Laura! The kidney swap program matched our San Diego donor to a recipient in Oklahoma and that person’s donor (who lives in Colorado) is a match for Laura. All 4 surgeries are scheduled for June 27th or 29th (depending on schedules).
The sole downside is the recovery time, follow up doctor's appointments and the 3 months of “limited contact” due to the immune-suppressive drugs needed for her transplant to ensure it “takes” and then the wean down period to her maintenance level.
This is like hitting the lottery twice in a row. It could only have happened with the love and support of our family and friends who have prayed for a small miracle to happen.
While not out of the woods by any means, we are seeing light through the trunks of the trees.
A minor aside to all of this, is the camper will stay winterized this summer, so to the friends we have made and those yet to be met at the Wine Festival in July and the International Rally in August will have to wait till next year to RALLY with us again.
My priority at this point is to nurse Laura back to health so we can get her butt back on the road!
Thank you all so much,
Lou and Laura
