x2! And camping down the road should make for a great reward for her doing her part.

I guess I kept missing this thread too, thinking of you both though, hopeful for a speedy recovery and that you will get on the road soon when Laura is all better.

Sorry to have delayed so long posting an update, but here is where we are.

Laura is home and she is waiting on her surgically implanted Peritoneal portal to heal enough to start her dialysis (PD). Her return was delayed a day (till Friday) due to a complication from the surgery.

The In-Hospital Hemo-Dialysis cleaned up the toxins in her blood and she was feeling pretty good and slowly deteriorated as the toxins built back up.

She was SO looking forward to her first home PD yesterday (30 Apr) but her portal was not fully healed. She would be like the old cartoons where the wolf is shot by the roadrunner and he leaks out of the holes when he drinks.

Should be good to go by Monday and we plan on her first nurse assisted PD then.

She is pretty "blue" as she really wanted to put the "sick" feeling behind her. Soon I hope.

Quite understandable about the delay. We'll keep the thoughts and prayers coming your way. Tell Ms. Laura HI and to keep her chin up and eat her scrambled eggs.

She says the toxins make everything taste like chewing aluminum foil.
She does like my eggs though. PD nurse says they are "just what the doctor ordered." Her anemia is causing the slow healing and the albumin protein will help bind up free phosphates; limit blood protein and nitrogen; and help her make red blood cells.

I do make killer scrambled eggs. PM for recipe

Wonderful update news.

Question - why PM for your recipe? We do have a cookout thread.

Shhhh... Its a secret...

OK, here it is:

2-3 brown eggs (Taste MUCH better than white)
2 TBSP Heavy Cream (Whipping is better!)
1 slice White American Cheese

Whip eggs and cream until smooth
Pour in cold frying pan and add slice of cheese
slow cook on medium low heat (lowest flame possible)
Stir and scrape the bottom of the pan with a narrow Teflon icing spatula to prevent sticking as the eggs cook

The cheese will completely dissolve into the eggs because it will melt before the eggs start to clump. Season to taste and serve hot.
Yum...

Update:

Her first dialysis using her port went great today.

Just like the Air Force.

Watch One; Do One; Teach One.

I do a supervised one tomorrow and "solo" one on Wednesday.
We will be taking the equipment and some supplies home after Wednesday (providing my solo flight is approved) and get out 30 day supply delivery by box van on Friday.

There are a lot of supplies to be stored (and transported in the RV). There will be a lot more planning involved regarding her supplies for the Rally (will need to pre-position some out there). I hope my good friend Bob Bryne (or someone else close by) can help me with that. Will need to drop ship about 10 cases of dialysate (10 days supply) to the rally. Details to be worked out.

Will need a larger RV for sure, so we will be shopping at the rally.

Lou

Herk, glad to hear that your first time went well.

Just let me know if you need to ship something here. The shipping address at the office is:

Forest River Owners' Group
423 North Main
Building 10
Middlebury, IN 46540

Now print this out and swallow it so that no one else sees the address.

Great news and Lou, I'm sure you'll pass your "Check Ride" with flying colors.

Being a Type 2 Diabetic I can understand the need for making sure enough supplies for Laura are packed for each trip, although not on the scale you're talking about.

Once again - great news.

They get some 5 pepper seasoning when I make mine
Laura is a lightweight in the hot/spicy arena.

You are "Da Bomb" Bob. Thank you so much.
Looks like I will be a Wildcat owner this year or next.
Working with Wildcat Chris for a (slightly) customized floorplan.
Leaning "heavily" towards the 295RSX; what a great looking floorplan!
Maybe we can see one at the rally or the factory.
