Lou, it's time for an update on how everything is going health wise and 5er prep wise.

Some of us are concerned about our friends.

Sorry folks, been busy as you can imagine.

She has been on home PD since Friday and is doing GREAT.
We even went out to my 45th high school reunion Saturday night and she had a good time (even ate some of that awful food). She refused to dance on the table this year. Maybe next time.

Here is a photo of her "setup" (including her CPAP and PD machine) and the "closet storage" for her 30 day supply of goodies.

Note the "pilot required" checklists stapled to the drapes

Guess I am past due for an update (thanks for the reminder OC).

She is doing better, but we hit another snag. She is getting some sharp pains from the catheter during drains and we are working on what might be causing it. CT Scan on Friday and will get results on Monday.

Completely emptied the camper and will get a good empty weight of the truck and camper. Then we plan to load 10 days of supplies and equipment and weigh it again. If there is enough payload left for us, we will keep our Flagstaff; if not, we will be shopping for a Wildcat at the rally.

We will be bringing the title, just in case!

If there is anything we can do to help you guys get up to Goshen let us know. Looks like Laura has a very long logistics tail (as we useta say in the military!)

Thank you for the kind offer. As in any operation with a "Logistics Tail" we solved our issue with a special ops team repositioning a cache of supplies.

F.R.O.G. Bob agreed to take a drop shipment so we could "resupply while underway" (navy term for "hitting the cache")

Just the Title? How about the check book.

Happy to here your DW is making progress and I hope the pain problem will be corrected quickly. Looking forward to meeting you and the better half at Goshen.

Not to worry, he has coffee cans full of them stashed all over the camper and truck and a pc of plastic to cover it.

Thanks for the bump.

Things are looking good for her. (finally). She still has some pain we are working to figure out what is going on. We think the catheter is poking her guts during the drain cycle. Sleep is not something we are getting these days. Drain cycle is every 2 hours.

I wound up with a severe allergy to the tree pollen around here. Why? No idea. Maybe lack of sleep. Sleeping on the sofa after setting her up so my coughing won't disturb what little sleep she is getting. Dr. got me a script for a prescription antihistamine. The over the counter stuff is just not working for me.

Still need to work on forcing her to eat protein and potassium. The eggs I cook help but she needs to get protein in larger quantities than she is eating. Tried Whey powder but she hates it. No-Salt solved the potassium issue I think. Everything else is looking better.

My younger is a weight lifter and is going to let her try some of the protein powder he uses. Need to run it by the nurses first though.

Thanks for the prayers.
Lou

We're still keeping you both in our thoughts and prayers. Give Ms. Laura a big hug from the Dunn's.

There are a lot of different protein powders. I mix them into my smoothies - some were good some were AWFUL. If you have a organic foods place near you, it's worth a perusal.

And, like OldCoot said- y'all continue to be in our thoughts and hearts.

Any recommendations to the tasty ones would be appreciated.

Herk, I use Amplify from GNC. They have vanilla and chocolate. I mix them with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and ice and to me it is like having a chocolate shake. Maybe that will work for Ms. Laura? Thoughts and prayers for you both!

OC, thanks for bringing this back up.

Herk,

I was thinking of both of you this weekend, you are both in my daily best wishes and prayers.

I also struggle with getting enough potassium and tire of people saying "eat bananas!"....'nanners just ain't my thang, but 'nanner nut bread is! I've also used frozen bananas dipped in chocolate. Perfect excuse to indulge in something otherwise sweet and sinful. A frozen banana in a smoothie machine is like eating banana ice cream too!

And, I also take potassium supplements.

Yogurt is a good source of protein, as is cheddar and cottage cheese.
