Tipping at a hotel

We are going to be staying at the Bellagio for 4 nights.
What are appropriate tips for the bellboy, room service, maid, etc?
I've never been to a hotel b4 - only motels at the Oregon coast.

I work in the hotel industry.

Bell Boy: $2-3 per bag delivered
Maid: I leave $3-5 per day on the end of the bed with a note thanking them.
Room Service: There is usually a room service charge added in, but I always add in an additional 10%

Bellboy 1 or 2 dollars a bag
Room service 15 percent but it may be included on bill
Maid 2 or 3 per night depending on your mess could be more
Have fun

bell boys, couple of dollars per bag, usually 5-10.00 upon arriving

maid/cleaning service: I do this a little different than most people when staying at nice places, "usually" you will find the same person will clean your room during your stay, and i have no problem asking them when i see them if they will be doing it all week/stay, then, depending on the cost of the hotel, I will give them 10-25.00 the first morning I am there and ask them to take care of me, they "usually" spend the week going out of their way to make sure i have everything i/we need, if they do a great job i will give them a little more when i leave

guess I'm a cheapskate compared to others above - used to stay in Vegas, a lot, and only tipped the bellboys ($2/bag), valet parking ($5/$10 if in front), dealers, drink gals

nothing for housekeeping unless requesting something other than their normal duties (laundry or dry cleaning, for instance)

seldom used room service but $5 for delivery (if not on the bill - but now-a-days it's always on the bill !)

meals - 15% for breakfast and lunch but up to 25% for good service at supper time (zero and a talk with the manager/owner if the service was bad).....Bill

We don't normally tip hotel room staff...Also don't tip CG staff either. I guess we are thoughtless and cheap!

btw...We eat at the Bellagio buffet last time we were there and were very disappointed. I hate to base a recomendation on just one visit (could have been a bad day) so if you decide to try it, let us know what you think!

I rarely stay more than 4 nights in a hotel. I dont let them in my room during my stay. So I generally leave 5.00 for the maid, unless they ignore the do not disturb sign or the room is dirty. If they do ignore the sign or the room is dirty upon arrival, I leave nothing.
Room service gets 10 to 15% if the service is prompt regardless of what they added to the bill.

I generally dont use the bellman.

I travel 75 to 80% of my work time and stay at a lot of hotels. While I consider myself generous when it comes to tipping wait staff at restaurants, I'm a little more demanding when it comes to lodging.
