Most importantly.....remain "calm".....irrational decisions could make things even worse. Sometimes you only get one choice

We did one of those tests on TV about what to do in an emergency, the answer for my DW was to keep 100 people like me around her her at all times. Had a good laugh at that!

That might help in a "high winds" situation... but this was a tornado and there's little one can do to protect a unit that is in the path of said tornado. I would abandon the trailer/TV and get in an approved shelter. Actually, I HAVE abandoned my rig and hunkered down in the community center of an RV park.

we stayed at that RV Park in route to Goshen for the 2015 rally, I wonder if the house its self got any damage or was it just the park. The rv park sits behind the plantation house. Glad no one was severely hurt there, could have been a lot worse looking at the RV's.

We had plans to be in canton Texas new years weekend. Just east of Dallas, but its flooded now. Thinking about all those affected by the storms.

Update: After speaking with Canton folks, they say flooding in the market area is not uncommon with this kind of rainfall. All the water was gone shortly after it crested. So it appears we'll be going after all. But staying high and dry at Mill Creek RV Resort.

FWIW-Canton,Texas is in Van Zanth county and Van Zanth is not one of the counties that flood warnings have been issued for in today's weather alert. However, you might be traveling in one or more of the counties that flood warnings have been issued for.

Our weather is expected to be cold, windy, rainy with some snow mixed in. So check the weather forecasts for this week.

At the RV park at Cabela's in Sidney Nebraska, all slots are facing into the wind. There is a sign stating that they all must be parked facing east.
In addition to putting down your jacks and hitching your rig, you can tie down the RV. I use static climbing ropes (not stretchy) but the black and orange truckers rope (polypro) would work as well, and be cheaper. I sink 3/4 inch rebar, 3 feet and tie down at the frame. Haven't had to stand up to a tornado but it keeps the winds under control.
I wouldn't sit it out inside the unit, however.
I would evacuate to a designated storm shelter.
The RV park at Sidney uses the bathrooms as shelters.

B47. Here's a snapshot from a video that was sent to me. Can't upload the video but you can tell it's Canton. Sad. Was looking forward to a first trip after 4 months of repairs on the fiver. My
