Trailer registration papers

I am just curious, do some of you put the DMV registration paper in the trailer or the tow vehicle?

I live in California and have one TT and TV.
My wife says it should be in the TT and I believe it should be with the TV that is towing the said trailer. Unless the law says otherwise.

I do like you - however if someone else pulled it I would then put it in their tow vehicle.

I have the registration papers in the TT, they are in the cabinet with the power awning switch, water pump/water heater switch, ect.

In Wisconsin the papers are to be kept in/on the "vehicle" that they belong to.

I do like you, however if it's on the road, it will be behind my truck.

I have mine in my TV. If I'm asked for it by you know who, I don't want to have to get into the 5th wheel to get the papers out of it.
