Wondering if anyone has a train horn on their truck. Could come in handy.....in certain situations....

A buddy has one. It’s obnoxiously loud.

I have been looking at them. More and more many drivers are messing with their phones. I just want to get their attention when they are swerving into my lane. Of course it would give a little piece of mind onthe occasional time I go through an intersection with a yellow light

I am installing this one now. I am pointing the horns downward to hopefully get more side to side volume.

Other than to have fun with it, I can’t see any possible legitimate safety excuse for one. A horn like that in an emergent situation seems like it’s more likely to CAUSE a bigger accident/problem than to solve one. Just my not-so-humble opinion.

Check the legality and use restrictions. Some states don't allow them.

I agree. You expect a train coming down the track to blow its horn or you hear the emergency vehicle coming so you are aware of it. Imagine if someone happens to be next to your truck ( and they just happen to be the bystander vehicle that you are not honking at) and that 150db horn goes off. Windows down, possible hearing damage... sounds (pun intended) like a bad idea but each to his own..

I was in the KOA campground in Fond du lac, WI two years ago. It was the "Halloween" weekend. There was a motor home next to me. The guy came over with a remote control in his hand and showed me how the front grill of his MH flipped down and two 2-trumpet air horns slid out. Then he blew them.

WOW!

He was planning to blow them when the kids came by on the "hay ride" and "hoped I wouldn't mind."

Fortunately, it rained later in the day and the hay ride was cancelled.

I should have taken a pic for the "Things you see in a campground" thread. LOL

One of my boys and myself installed one in his Jeep years ago. We had a little fun with it and there is a few people out there that ran red left turn lights right in front of me, that to this day, are still trying to get the skid marks out of their shorts.

Agreed. Would hate to cause an innocent traveller to be startled into an unrelated accident just for a laugh. But hey, you have to live with yourself if it does happen.

Easy to install. Not a train horn, but it does get everyone's attention.

You can add it to your existing horns.

I got a pile of Redneck in me. I take it as a compliment.

But.........I try to not be noisy. Slip in like an Indian, slip out like an Indian. Loud mufflers, radios, yelling, and air horns, are not for me.

Now, my buddy has a train horn. Course............he drives a train!!

X2 ~ many bikers install the WOLO on their bikes and get rid of the beep beep horns! Be sure to add a relay from your existing horn wiring for the trigger and direct 12 volt wires from the battery.

Good attention getters ~ but for that matter so are 12 volt boat horns.

Just my opinion of course ~~
