It's chilly, I won't lie. In perspective, it could be a lot worser!

Looks like fun, Doug. Not sure if you're running yet or not but I hope all went (or is going) well with the run. Make sure to post some pics with your finisher medals!

Good luck and have fun...I run a couple of times a year with a couple of my kids and it usually turns out to be a lot of fun! Good times and good memories.

This was an after school running program. The amount of teachers, staff and administration (current and ex) that came out in support of the girls was awe inspiring.

My pace was slower than I wanted and my pain level higher than expected, but we made it!

But, seriously - Congrats Doug

I routinely do 5k+ runs at least 4-5 days a week and am working my way to a half marathon distance by the end of the month. I'll be doing a Holiday 5k next weekend at the LA county fairgrounds. My wife did a 10k at a regional park once that went through a campground. Then there was a color run at the park we last camped at. Luckily there were no color stations near the sites. I'm sure washing that stuff off the rubber roof would be a pain.

Diet, day 1 (take 7,532)... Trying again to take my eating habits on. Most of the year now, I've floated in the 260s. When I was consistently closer to 260, my clothes fit better. But, unfortunately- cracking into the 250s just wasn't happening. I'd get close and then eff it up.

Since the 5k, I've been on a nasty binge with a sweet tooth that would put down a mammoth. I've been telling myself for a week that "today is the day" and then I'd go eat something fattening and call myself a loser, claiming tomorrow would be the day.

This morning I stepped on the scale and it read 270.5. It was a dark day to leave the 260s (as sad as that is).

Today is try number 7,532 at reforming my eating and shedding some weight.

Sad part- as a kid and teen, I was stick thin. I started working at 15 and it's been downhill since about 17. I joke that I ate that kid. I'm going to refind him!

Good for you!!! I topped out at 265 and lots of running and calories counting made it back down to 230. Not sure if your using any apps or are into that sort of thing but if you are check out Earndit, map my fitness or runkeeper. And if your into the pedometer thing check out fitbit.

My wife and I have yet to find an affordable pedometer that is worth it. Everything we've bought at or under $40 has been junk.

Yes to apps - right now I have MyFitnessPal and MapMyRun. For Christmas, Santa is supposed to be bringing me a phone mount for my bicycle.

And, it's cold for running!

I use the fitbit. I think it's about $100. I really like it and it syncs to the iPhone.
