Traveler or Camper?

I read a comment by Ependydad on another thread and it made me start thinking about the differences between someone who considers themselves to be a traveler or a camper. Also, in the world of RVing how would you define your choice?

Inquiring minds want to know!!

Not sure the definition you are using, but mine is as follows:

Traveling is a hotel on wheels ... I use my RV as sleeping/living quarters as I'm going from Point A to Point B. It facilitates my trip.

Camping is a hotel at a remote destination ... I use my RV as sleeping/living quarters at Point B. It facilitates my stay at some away-from-home location.

There's obviously overlap. But, I primarily use my RV as a cabin at some destination. Camping for me.

I think I'm more of a traveler. My purpose in getting my RV was to support a desire to see our country and not have to stay in hotel/motels. So I will not be in the campground much. My view of a camper is someone who gets to a location and stays there or moves mostly by foot or possibly a bike, small ORV. Me, I'll unhitch and do more driving around to area POIs and satisfying my geo-caching addiction.

I'm a traveler that likes to stay in my own place.

My camper sits in campground all year long. I get to visit it on weekends in the spring and summer.

I think we are more of a traveler than a camper. We nearly never take out our camper just park in a campground somewhere. We use it as a "home base" to visit attractions in the area. We almost always have something or someplace we want to visit and we then try to find campgrounds in the area.

We're travelers on one 3-4 week trip every year and campers on all of our other ventures. We slept in our unit 110 nights in 2017.

Great responses from everyone!

I think we are more travelers than campers. Getting from point A to point B and using our motorhome as a base camp to visit family, friends, attractions, national parks, etc.

Whether you consider yourself a traveler or a camper, we wish you safe travels!

I don’t prefer the traveling part other than the sights to see as you travel. I am driving and responsible for the safety of the passengers as well as the RV and TV...so sight seeing is dangerous.

My relax/enjoyment has to be the camping as getting there can be work. YMMV

Camper here. The rig is permanent in the Berkshires. We visit it for 4 months in the summer. Home away from home.

Looking like the forum is pretty evenly spit.

It is interesting how the words "camper" and "traveler" are interpreted!

We tend to travel more than camp but we do camp a couple of times a year with the very young grandkids. The older two age 11 and 13 travel with us to visit various states and theme parks. We tend to put 3 to 4,000 miles a year when we travel to what ever area of the country we choose to go.

Last year, we did 3 long trips totaling 10,000 and more than a dozen states in addition to the numerous shorter local trips.
