Pill Billy- I had bone infection, soft tissue infection, and long metal implant was coated with infection, culture showed it to be a VRE. After 2 years of fighting it, doctor finally decided amputation was best. I will have a home health care nurse come around, and my wife is an RN. She has already laid down the law about getting healthy first and traveling second.

VRE is nasty stuff and your probably aware it is resistant to most antibiotics. Stay on schedule with your antibiotics as the MDs have limited choices if this regimen fails.

Sounds like your in good hands. Deep seated infections can take 6-12 weeks to eradicate. Make sure they at least do an ESR & CRP at the end of six weeks.
