Under the knife....

...tomorrow, after 2 reschedules. Right leg will come off above the knee. I just hope I will have enough recovery time to leave Ohio before bad weather keeps us here. Our motorhome sat beside the garage last winter covered in snow, and we are both really looking forward to a winter in Florida for the first time. I'm going to ask the doc for a prescription that says I have to recover on a sunny beach!

Now that's positive thinking! Get him to write you a prescription for Godiva Chocolates while you're at it!

All joshing aside, you'll be in my prayers tonight and tomorrow Richard. May He guide the surgeon's hands and give you strength during recovery.

Here's hoping you'll be enjoying Florida weather come winter time! (Sneak lived in FL when I met him...I lived there five years, then for some reason I have yet to understand, I talked him in to moving back here to my home town after we got married.) Took some gettin' used to though, seeing Christmas lights on palm trees, and running around with the sun roof open during December.

I admire your attitude Richard. We should all be thankful if we don't have to face that you are dealing with in such a brave way. May the good Lord be at your side as you LIVE life to the fullest. I'm pulling for ya'.

Richard thoughts and prayers coming your way. Keep your positive attitude, it will get you to where you want to go. I know, at the end of February my neck surgery went badly wrong. I woke up as an incomplete quadriplegic, first I couldn't move at all. With a bunch of therapy and prayers and yes hard work, I happy to tell you I'm sending this post from our first camping trip with our granddaughters. I drove, yes there's light at the end of the tunnel. Nothing but best wishes to you. Give them heck!!!!

Will expect to see you in the Orlando/Davenport area this winter. I might even buy you a cup of coffee.

BTW, I greatly admire your positive attitude. Will keep you in our prayers.

Back home today. Using crutches and the walker is hard work! I'm exhausted. Maybe it's because I had major surgery only 4 days ago and have spent a lot of time lying in bed. I'll get over it. Doctor said leg was worse than what he thought, and put me on an IV antibiotic at home for 6 weeks, then maybe if it's healed enough, prosthesis guy wants to start with new leg. Bone doctor is ok with going to Florida, infection doctor not sure, and prosthesis guy says no, don't wait til spring to do the leg. I'll just wait and see what happens..............Rick

Stay positive; stay focused.
The goal is to be healthy enough to get camping again.

Do what you can to maximize a positive outcome.
Clear Skies and tailwinds...

Did you have Osteomyelitis (bone infection), gangrene, or just superficial tissue infection prior to the amputation?

I work as an Inpatient Pharmacist and participate in our Infectious Disease Rounds (with the ID Md) at my hospital.

Depending on your insurance, they may not be contracted with an infusion pharmacy where you are headed. Are you hanging your own IV antibiotics or have a home health nurse coming daily?

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Richard I pray all goes well with your recovery. Do what the Dr. says and hopefully you will be on a sunny beach before the first snow fall in Ohio.

Richard,

Glad to hear that you're *home*! Home is a huge first step to recovery and being home is good for the heart as well.

Continued prayers for your recovery.
