My wife is our family "cruise director" and she likes this site.

Do check it out!

We're "Sea for two" on that site. You can chat with people going on the same cruise you have booked and meet them at "Meet and Mingle" events on your cruise sponsered by the cruise line. This group carries a lot of stroke with the cruise lines.

We've meet many nice people on that site as well as found a wealth of information and ratings.

That's what we said then we made it happen. Plan a year or more ahead for savings then structure payments to have it paid for by the time you go. Paying the cruise lines, no interest. We rarely take a balcony but consider one for Alaska. Doesn't matter what side. In the inland passage it's same scenery on both sides and in May/June/July always daytime. No balcony cheaper and you can always go up top.

We took land/sea cruise with 6 days land and 7 days at sea. We found many on the sea part (last 7 days) who regretted that after paying airfare to get to Alaska, they didn't take the land part too. (Denali, Mt McKinley, Fairbanks, pipeline, gold mine, Anchorage, much more) We felt, Dream Vacation, do it right the first time because it will be expensive to do it again. To give you an idea, booking way ahead and while on another cruise: $3500 for two. Sounds like a lot but less than a week at Disney.

Make it happen.

We did a meet and mingle on our last cruise and had a blast. We did a cabin crawl to see the various categories of cabins and our group offered adult beverages at most of the cabins.

Our last cruise was on the Carnival Valor and we had a great time. Here's a picture of the "Hairy Chest Contest." Very funny.

Unfortunately adult beverages aren't included in the price of the cruise so I run up quite a tab on a seven day cruise...but it's worth it.

tip......Stay loyal to one cruise line and join their club. As diamond with RC we get free wine and champaign from 5 to 8:30 and any free drink on some of the larger ships. As diamond plus after December, free drinks on all ships 5 to 8:30.
