Weather topples RVs Gulf Coast

Powerful storm topples RVs near Mississippi's Gulf coast | Fox News

Glad no one was injured.

Interesting that the blame was placed on "RVs not being tied down".

Never said anything about the cars that were overturned weren't tied down.

<getting a visual of the RVs toppled with the awnings using OC's poles still standing!

(yeah, I know, impossible...but tell that to my "different" brain)

The direction this thread is taking needs to STOP NOW!

Anybody remember when the NHTSA tried to put seat belts on motorcycles?

A number of years ago we were in a violent thunderstorm in our Wildcat in northern MO. The winds were VERY strong and really had the trailer shaking. It’s the only time I’ve been concerned for our safety. Fortunately we rode the storm out without incident. Afterward a local emergency crew from the county came by to check on us. Big winds are scary.

Rv's get blown over

I was just watching the CNN news. They had pictures and a story about 15 RV's being blown over yesterday at an RV park near Biloxi Mississippi. Just from straight line winds. I don't think my awning poles would have helped. The only good news was that nobody got injured. I guess there is not much a person can do about that. I'm REALLY, REALLY getting tired of this winter....

The news was just showing an RV park here in NY State that was flooded water up to the bottom of trailers, snow melted a lot faster than anyone thought it would. Most of the small rivers and lakes are above flood stage now and are expected to crest today or tomorrow at the latest. Been raining hard all night and now they are calling for more snow over night tonight.

I guess Mississippi upped there totals now they are saying that between 20 to 25 RVs werewere flipped over. One person had to be rescued by cutting through the floor of a trailer that had been flipped by the winds. They are saying only 2 people were injured.

Not sure if this is an updated report or not but it does say two people were hurt but no bad.

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...q7tf4pXqv_oMuQ

The storm blew through the Santa Maria RV Park in Gautier at around 8 p.m. Monday, knocking some trailers off their blocks and overturning or destroying others.
The roads leading up to the RV park were littered with debris, and none of the street lights were working. Despite the widespread destruction in the park, only two people were injured, neither seriously, television station WLOX reported.

Lots of people got lucky on this one.

Sitting here in the camper now and it's being shaken all around by the wind. This story sits heavy on my mind at the moment.

The awning has OldCoot's poles on it- and I'm afraid we have missed our window for bringing it in.

This sucks.
