Not sure what's up, but I know on another forum I'm on, one guys PB pics no longer show up. He pointed this out and mentioned the $400/yr ransom.

Nah, they just haven't gotten around to you yet. A quick look up the thread at post #36 will show that to be true.

All my accounts were blocked, so I pulled all my pictures off PB. It sat empty a couple days and I just uploaded the pic in my post above. Now it's working again. Something will trip them off and they'll block my account again.

I could care less really, photobucket is dead to me now.

Shame really. I had lots of "how to" threads on a lot of car and motorcycle forums I'm on. Now they're just writeups with no pictures.....

Yep, hit me, too.

I had posted a picture last night on one of the threads. Initially, it looked okay. Went in this morning and BINGO! got the PB ransom notice.
Ba-bye Photobucket. My apologies to anyone who is looking for a photo I posted the last couple of years. Contact me and I'll see if I can find the photo on my own Western Digital My Cloud. Yep, been backing up everything here at home for years.

My photobucket stuff is still working fine but will eventually fail. I'd like to use this forum picture hosting service but whenever I tried to use it the pictures would usually post sideways or upside down. I see that a lot when other folks here use that service to store their posted pictures.

Looks like the forum is now banning the use of Photobucket links.

WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING

Looks like Photobucket finally got around to messing with my account. And they did it in a very unethical way.

I've had the PB account for many years. During that time I have purchase several items (reprints, canvas transfers, etc). I paid for those purchases through PayPal so they had my PayPal info on file. Early this morning I received an email from PayPal showing that PB had set up a recurring charge of $9.99 per month. I never authorized PB to do this....they just decided to take money from me. Looks to me like PB has been sold to a Nigerian money scam operator.

I'm not going to be out any money because I've already contacted PayPal and refused the charge. I also contacted the credit card company linked to my PayPal account and refused the charge from PayPal.

Since I am deleting my PB account I'm sure all pictures previously posted by me will disappear. Hopefully I can find a photo hosting site that works as well as PB (it was a very good site) but until then I won't be able to post any pix. I tried using the forum system to post pictures but when I upload a picture here it winds up being rotated 90 or 180 degrees most of the time.

So, if any of y'all with Photobucket accounts have ever purchased anything from them be warned that they have your payment method and will probably try to steal money from you.

The rotated pics seem to be from iPhones. Some folks seem to have figured out how to get them to post correctly. Maybe if one of them would post how they did it, everyone else could do it properly.

iPhones are notorious at many sites for posting sideways.

Pictures taken from iPhone land sideways on computer | Apple iPhone Forum

and I have gotten the emails from Photobucket several times. But my pictures keep posting. I have no clue why.

There is no picture hosting site I can find, free or otherwise, other than Photobucket that allows in-site picture resizing.

Been using Flikr for quite some time without issues. I can resize and edit the photos.. I also have used Google photo but find that FLikr allows a BB Code quick link to be made in the web site for adding to forums.

Pics that are snapped in landscape orientation often have this problem. Your device auto rotates them but the forum software can't. The solution is to view the image on your device in portrait mode and then resize it - even a little and save with a new file name. That file should load to the forum w/o issue.

The same solution applies. The underlying issue is the meta data associated with the image (that is placed there by your device)denotes what is 'Up'

Your devices idea of "up' and the forums are not aligned.

Wouldn't a better solution be for the forum owners to upgrade the system to a more modern BBS software? Other forums use software that is compatible with current devices.

News flash: there are very few people left using Blackberry devices.

How did you get the link from flickr. I can copy the URL and paste it in the browser search bar but putting it in a message just shows a little box.

So what's the recommendation on an easy to use site to post pictures from. Photobucket was way too easy. Four touches on the phone screen and the pix was ready to post. I don't need editing (none of my Photobucket pix have been edited). Can't get flickr to work and I'm not going through all the hassle to get a photo to upload to the forum library.

Even though my PB pix are still available to post the last time I tried the forum blocked any posting from there.
