Trained as a civil engineer, top 3% of a class of 650+, 17th to be exact.
But decided to return to the family farm, did that for 30 years and retired at 55. DW was my right-hand "man", driving combine, grain truck, and whatever else needed to be done.
Ran an auto body business out of the farm workshop in the winter, eventually specializing in restoring early 70's Mopars. Owned two of the rarest 71 Chargers in existance.
After retiring, restored the old farm house, and now just tinker around on our acreage.
And yes, retirement is pretty good!

I work for a telecommunications company, working in the control office for the fiber optic transport equipment and cable TV head end. On my days off I work on the family farm (2240 acres) and shingle houses.
DW runs a daycare out of our house.

Nice to see fellow vollies! I am also a volunteer firefighter/EMT, since 1996. Father has been volunteering for over 50 years. Just wish I had more time to do it these days!

Now the lead contractor managing a full service IT operation here in Saskatchewan everything from programming to IT maint to Audio Visual to network administration and project management. I'm retired. Worked as a commuter train operator and then retired in 2003. That was the year we quit tent camping and bought a fifth wheel to travel the country.

As I read through all the posts I saw a lot of military and RN positions. I think both are worthy of my gratitude. Thank you for your services

I myself am a corporate type. I manage the trade shows and events for a large industrial robotics company. I also do graphic design and photography.

Unless I hit that elusive lotto jackpot I have at least 25 years to go before retirement is at my doorstep.

Retired now, but flew C-130 aircraft for the Air Force active duty; Air National Guard; and finally Air Force Reserves for a total of 33 years.

Graduated Villanova University 1972 with a BS (easy there) degree in Chemistry with minors in Math, Physics, Philosophy, and Theology. Entered active duty in the fall of 1972; pilot training; left as an senior instructor pilot in 1980. A year in the Guard flying EC-130s and then to the Reserves. Before I went full time Technician for the Air Force (a civil service job as a pilot trainer and evaluator for other reservists) in 1985, I worked for the Navy as an "Equipment Specialist" tasked with researching and approving aircraft parts for "break out" from sole source manufacturing to "competition."

Finally someone died (actually he got his law degree and quit) and I was hired as a Technician in my unit. Worked my way up to Group Commander responsible for 13 C-130 aircraft and about 1500 folks (civilian and reservist) and retired in 2005. Now I just plan vacations and take them.

My wife and I are seeing the country from the ground; mostly new for her and different for me. FYI Mt Rushmore looks TINY from the air, I used to wonder what all the excitement was about.
