What do you or did you do for a living?

I have 35 years behind me and about 15 to go. I have worked in the purchasing profession most of my life. Currently my leaning is more to the data analyst side of procurement, but still nose deep in purchasing.

DW worked in a factory for 25 years, then retired. Stayed at home for 12 years till she got bored. Now she works in the funeral industry. Kind of weird, but she loves it. Of course it cramps our camping plans from time to time, but we have learned to adapt. We try to get out every other weekend, if she does not have a funeral.

I retired after 30yrs with Verizon, mid level management. I then started a new career as a supervisor at a Golf and Country Club. 15yrs now and still going.

A soon to be retired Belly Dump/ Side Dump highway construction truck driver, 22 years in and glad to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Wife has another year to go building small (under microscope) temperature sensors, so till then, its just short trips on weekends and maybe a week in Branson in Nov or March.

How many of your wife's funerals have you been to?

Funny you should ask... I just figured out I have 7 years, 3 months and 20 days until I am going to retire... A co-worker of mine is counting down his last 10 days, so I got curious about mine.

I have been a firefighter in Indianapolis for the last 16 years. I volunteered at a local department for 5 years before that. I also work as a website developer and IT person for a small company that mainly caters to non-profits.

My wife is just finishing her Masters Degree and is opening a private practice for mental health counseling. (My co-workers and I keep her busy!) She was a head-hunter for the pharmaceutical industry for several years before that.

We got our first travel trailer last year (to get off the ground) and we are looking forward to seeing more of our great country. We love the Smoky Mountains, but can't wait to go out west!

Retired from the Air Force after 25 years. Spent mostly as a Crew Chief on HH-60 Pavehawk helicopters. Now a Unit Deployment Manager for an Air Force Special Ops unit.

DW is a office manager at an eye clinic.

We both retired from the Yukon Territorial Government in 1997 at the regular retirement age. I was a Facilities Manager and the better half was an Accounting Supervisor.

I think the husband retired about 3 1/2 yrs ago when the economy fell apart. Lost his job and has not been able to find a good one since then. (Or perfers not to).
I am a housewife, taxi driver, personal shopper, teacher,....I could go on as being a wife has many name tags. In reality though I am a new grad nurse in her first year as an LPN.

Out of college, I started with a company called Westinghouse making X-ray machines.

After that I spent 30 years with a very large company in the world of warehousing and physical distribution (logistics to some).

I retired 11 days before 9/11 and was actually with my son in a Cessna 182 over Western MD (near Camp David) when the towers fell.

I hear ya!

I'm a software consultant and specialize in building web applications to simplify and add efficiency to internal corporate processes. I work from home, so I have the ability to work from anywhere with internet access, but the DW won't let me pull the camper to a campground in the middle of nowhere by myself and leave her with the 3 kids (3, 6, and 8 years old).

I actually have an engineering degree, but chose computers over engineering and haven't regretted it one bit!

DW works in the payroll dept for the state.

~20 more years until retirement for us (if all goes well). At that time, I would love to partially retire and travel the country working a couple days a week to help pay for our journeys.

Left school and went into pig and arable farming in the UK. In 1974 I started driving a bus for London Transport, and over the next thirty years I moved to tour buses which took me all over Europe. Lots of happy passengers in that time. In 2004 I moved to the US to become the DH to my DW, and started driving all over again - this time school buses. Five years ago the school asked me to work 'inside' as a teacher aide, so now I work with Special Ed kids, still drive a bus when needed, and from this year I'll be responsible for training new bus drivers to our school district. I have three years to go until retirement.
The DW is a fifth grade teacher at the same school, and she will also retire in three years - good timing.

Been working in the mining industry for the last 10 years. I started off as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) in Northern Ontario in the nickel mines. Two years ago my wife and I moved to Saskatchewan where I am now working as a Maintenance Planner and loving it.
