What gives with trailer lighting

In this world today we can make waterproof digital cameras. We can make state of the art biomedical devices. We use to be able to send people to the moon and we invented the twinkie.

Some of you have boats too and perhaps this is better suited for a boating forum, but what I can not fathom or understand is why boat trailer companies and lighting companies can not invent a truly bomb proof trailer light? I have LED ones and even those are not water proof and the electrical wiring on trailer is not always the best either?

I sort of understand wheel bearing issues with boat trailers, but trailering boats has been around since the 1950s and we still use 1950s technology on this as well. Campers are not subject to submersion so they do not feel the wrath of sea water like a boat trailer can. It is my project for the week to work on trailer lighting...yeah haw...

I hear you!

Our boat trailers never touch salt water so we don't have nearly the same corrosive issues you have. But still, other than cost, not sure why they can't or won't seal them effectively.
