What is this freebie?

OK, so we finally figured out what the huge white plastic "socket wrench" looking thingie was when we got the new RV and the PDI guy showed us how to remove the water filter cartridge. Yeah, that water filter we never knew we HAD in the V-Lite, so we left the wrench in it.

We also had/have a black plastic thing that was in a kitchen drawer that looks like the end of the stinky slinky.

I figure it's an adapter of some sort, but what do you use it for? There was one in the V-Lite which we never used...left it in there.

Now we have another one.

Been a member long enough here now that I *know* someone can clue me in.

Be careful with that water filter wrench - some filter canisters are difficult to remove the first time and the wrench can give you more leverage than you need.

If it's difficult to remove the canister,hold the canister mounting bracket with one hand and apply enough muscle with the wrench with the other hand. That should free the canister. And don't over torque the canister when reinstalling it while making sure you have installed the "0" ring correctly.

Nahh I'm a Southern gal, I don't scare that easily.


Actually our PDI guy did a demo on removing it and re-installing it a couple of times, and then when he re-winterized it after the PDI.

You've no idea what that black plastic thing is? It has the hooks on the side just like the tank hose end.

I'll do that tomorrow. I just went out in this Siberian weather to check the baby's temp. She's at 47 degrees inside with nothing on but the small ceramic heater since about 7 PM tonight.

It's 30 degrees with a wind chill of 18 degrees. Those strong wings can, and did, go right up the hem of my big fluffy house coat, makin me feel like I was wearin nuttin but my birfday suit!

I ain't goin' back out there tonight!

Imagine the plastic end on the stinky slinky, except disconnected from the hose. It has those hooks that are used to lock it on to the valve.

Had one that came in the V-Lite, never needed it, now we have one that came in the 5er.

Got one *extra* freebie this time. Someone at the factory left a flexible square head drive socket extension in the top drawer in the kitchen. Looks brand new.

Heck I thought it was some kinda match holder for lighting the oven. I was trying to telescope it out as I stepped outside to ask DH about it.

He grabbed it and said "where'd you get this?" Yup, it's now in his tool box. Quite happy with it, he is.

That black plastic thingy is, indeed, the end for a sewer hose. In an effort to save money the manufacturer no longer includes an entire slinky. Just one fitting for just one end.

It's for taking the el-cheapo hose and adding bayonet connectors on it. You twist the hose onto the flat end and then it hooks onto your sewer connector.

Normally, I am kind of an expert in thingies, but not this time. Just glad someone else here speaks my language.

If it doesn't have a hole in it, it could be a cap for the sewer hose or, it could be an extra cap for the sewer pipe coming from the camper. A couple of my sewer hoses had those end caps so they couldn't leak in storage.

But we got a free starter kit both with both RV purchases. That kit includes a hose, which we don't use anyway.

We use a Rhino.

OK, so now I know that's a useless piece that we can toss.

About the "extra freebie" you found. It was probably left behind by a worker.

That's exactly why most aircraft mechanics don't put their initials or names on their hand tools - makes it easy to ID who owns that tool that was left behind and caused some aircraft comportment to jam up or cause some engine FOD ( Foreign Object Damage).

My daughter had oral Versed ONCE. She was the most hilarious drunk 6 or 7 year old. Problem was- it didn't wear off for a good 18 hours.

She's gotten it via IV every time since. Let's her sleep and wears off as she wakes up.
