What is with the price of Diesel?

It seems it was just a month ago that diesel here in SE Michigan was $3.69 and now it is $4.29 & have seen $4.49. Does anyone have any clue as to why the price is up $.50 per gallon in just a month?

Home heating is the cause for home owners that use #2 fuel oil
It is still @ $3.79 a gallon here (23851)for highway use

Just filled up my fuel tank with 3.98 a gallon #2 fuel oil. Kerosene is 5.50 a gallon. Mix the two for winter blend, add the road use taxes, and you get VERY expensive winter diesel.

I don't use diesel myself, but was told the refineries here are switching out to summer diesel leaving the winter diesel to depleted stocks thus raising the price.

Gasoline prices are also on the rise here supposedly due to the harsh winter this year and to help obscure the image of the rising cost of winter diesel.

Cold winter causing high demand on home heating oil.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 using the FRF mobile app.

And for my iPhone/iPad using friends - cannot recommend Gas Buddy highly enough -- great crowd maintained app that can save you a extra few pennies on any type of fuel!

You would think summer blend diesel would come in cheaper. Winter blend is a combo of # 2 & #1 fuel oil. The #1 added keeps the diesel from gelling up and the colder the temp the more #1 is needed. With the price differance of #1 & #2 being up to $2/gal, the cost of blended fuel could get pricey. Up North here I see up to a 30% blend of #1.

Go ahead and rub it in. Here in North Florida it is right around $4.00.

#1 is mostly Kerosene
