Just ignore her and her comments, that will get to her faster than anything else. My granddaddy use to say,"The more you stir s---, the worse it smells". Bite your tongue and walk away.

I have been keeping my distance, as much as possible. If we are at a family function, I just try to stay in a different room or atleast keep a 20ft or so buffer zone between us. Funny thing is that my wife is doing the same thing also. I have also been trying to train myself just to ignore her.

My wife and I now both have the attitude that life is too damn short to worry about what she thinks. And like before we are doing what makes us happy, but now just ignoring the negative comments, just like water off a ducks back.

Its alot more tolerable with the attitude!

I always just say "find the humor in it" sometimes that is hard, but ya gotta do whatever helps you keep your sanity. I was lucky with my inlaws, and my folks have always been great. Lately my father is making stupid remarks similar to your m-i-l maybe not quite as bad but I just have to laugh. He asked me WHERE are you getting your money for ALL these trips? Sure is a FANCY camper... I told him we got our money the same way he did, we worked for it and now we're enjoying it!
