I doubt you'll believe me..........but..........

A 1/2 1960 and 1/2 1961 Chevy Corvair. It's the car that launched Ralph Nader. It was the back half of one and the front of the other, welded together. Big old ugly weld all the way around it. No clue who went to that trouble. My father was an insurance adjuster and he'd find me a car for free......I'd take a new battery, stick it in the junker car, and if it started they'd let me have it to get it out of their hair. I'd drive it for 3 months, and do it again. I had a bunch of cars........all worth about two dollars if added together.

1981 AMC Concord, 4 door with the full vinyl roof, auto with 258 cid. Bought brand new from the AMC dealership I worked at. Ran like a dream, never a problem. Unbelievable driving in snow! Put over 200k kms on it. I've owned Fords, Chryslers, GMs and Hondas since but I'd love to have that one back again!

A jet black 1951 Hudson Hornet and man I wish I had that car back. 4-door, Mohair seats even had a radio, sun visor, big boat of a car. Sold it when I went in service for $200.00 and the man I sold it to still has the car and has fully restored it and will NOT even talk about sale.

1962 Chev BelAir 4Dr. 6Cyl Auto. Followed by a 62 Falcon Futura-2Dr, 6 Cyl,bucket seats, cursed vacuum wipers. Blew the motors on both. Next a 67 BelAir 283 V8, 4Dr, 2 Spd Auto, Std Steering. Should have kept that one. Had a 71 VW window van and 70 VW pickup- both extemely valuable now in restorable condition and out of the question when restored. Both were reliable, fun, and great in snow. Have had many others, too numerous to mention.

Cheers to all

My first car in 1956 was a 1951 Nash Rambler convertible. Of course it was not in this good of condition and had a black top.

1963 Dodge Polara 440.

Bought for 100.00 in 1977. Red, four door, UGGGG_LEEEE car.... passenger fender was a Sacramento Tomato Juice Can bondo-ed into place....120,000 miles.

That thing was a TANK!!!! Push button transmission, and bench seats that would "seat about 20....(!!!! On the way to the "Love Shack"!!!!)

One time my sister borrowed it....travelling along the interstate, she somehow lost control (going too fast probably) and went DOWN into the sloping median, and then back UP again onto the highway.....no damage, kept on going!

What a car. My boyfriend at the time hit a pole with it and the tomato juice can crumpled up and the thing was totalled.

$100.00. .....440 engine....those were the days!!!!!

I guess it all depends on how you view cars. I happen to view them as something more than strictly a way to get from point A to point B. I'm kinda unique, I have kept the same wife for 56, going on 57 years, and have owned all those cars! As the saying goes- "different strokes for different folks!"roflblack:

1966 Plymouth Station Wagon that died a magnificent death on the PA Turnpike one Friday night the winter of 1972; yet still managed to get me home.

At some undetermined high rate of speed (I never looked at the speedometer as I can ever recall), the pushmatic transmission gave a lurch as something departed the side of the case. With no transmission fluid at all, it got me home. Once I punched reverse to back out of the driveway, I knew its days as my reliable steed were ended.

I filled the transmission with fluid and drove it to the used car dealer and traded it for a 2 year old Barracuda. I asked the salesman where he wanted me to park it, and he said anywhere.

As I drove off the lot in the Cuda, I imagined him shaking his fist at me after trying to unsuccessfully move my old brick to the back of the lot

1953 Ford Mainline. Used to impress girls by making the windshield wipers stop on demand - could stop them 15-20 times on each sweep! Didn't need the backseat, front seat was HUGE! Kept thinking about installing a bar under the dashboard!.

My first car was a beautiful 1969 Plymouth Satellite, mint cond., low miles for $800.00. It was a much greater car than the care that I took of it. I blew the motor up when I came out of work (3rd shift) at 7 am and started it up on a -47 degree arctic blast morning. Must have been low on oil....I ended up getting $35.00 for it from some guy with a tow truck.

For you former AMC owners...I currently drive this 1979 CJ5 with an AMC 360 engine...

...and I'm building this CJ5 from the ground up. It has a completely rebuilt AMC 401.

Bought my first car after I graduated high school in 1971. It was a 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible; 383 Commando w/Torque Flight tranny, factory air and power EVERYTHING. Paid $300. Ran like a scared rabbit.

Man, do I wish I had that car now.

Hmm. Should have been a ball stud type 318(kinda looked like hemi valve covers)...the 440 didn't come out till 65. The body was a 440 series.

I am a Chrysler boy

Bought a 54 Ford V8 2dr center-post for $150.00 in 1962. It was all white and shined real well. Yep, you never forget your first car.

Was working 10 hours a week for $1.00 hr., with Gas at .249 or less Dad thought I could afford it.

Omg. My father had one of those. Red with some black stripes or something. Bought it new. Leaked oil on starter and it would strand you. No silicone in those days and OHC valve cover created issues.
