I would just use the money to do more of what I already do:

.. home improvements- basement needs finishing and lotto would give me the money to buy materials to finish it

.. auto improvements- My diesel jeep Liberty needs a new turbo and intercooler. My wife's diesel Grand Cherokee needs a power steering hose and some minor body work.

...do more camping and ATVing in the summer

...do more snowmobiling in the winter

..finally finish my add on fixed wing certification to my commercial, instrument, rotary wing ticket and buy a Cessna Citation X

...hire a pooper scooper service.

...Finally get them Maxxis tires for my fifth wheel

...add 2 more solar panels to my fifth wheel

That's be about it.

Might be better to start one from scratch.

I'd be happy if you just made better things than Lippert.

First to hire a good attorney and financial advisor. My DW and I would pay off our children's college loans. We would take our time to decide what to do with the windfall. We would set up trusts for our grandchildren. We would give to Alzheimer's and Parkinson research as this hits close to home. In addition give to Tourette Syndrome research as our son has TS. Probably first, thank God for his generous intervention.

I love how y'all are spending my money. I highly doubt I will be a winner but dreaming is fun. I would definitely hire all the appropriate advisors/lawyer before coming forward. I would probably still work part time because I would go insane not working. I would get a horse for myself and dd and resume competing horses again. I would hire a personal trainer for DH and I. Upgrade to a cedar creek or Columbus and a matching dually. Hire a nanny who can also home school dd on our trip around the country.... she can use our old sabre/chevy rig.... definitely pay off the house, vehicles etc and help out my sister with her debt and issues with her daughter. Donate to some dog rescues I have already worked with and to wounded warrior project. Of course a significant amount will be set aside for dd to have college paid for anywhere she wants to g on. A trust fund would also be started for her.

Saint Jude's children hospital would be getting a chunk of it. Same with brain cancer research. Lost my wife 7 years ago to it. But myself a new bass boat and live happily ever after. I don't really need much. Oh yeah, give the kids some of it.

Buy an Arctic Fox Silver and start touring all of the national parks. Have fun leaving huge tips at bars and restaurants.

I'd get a divorce.

Don't get me wrong. I love my wife. We can still live together and everything. But I figure of you give me that kind of money and I will do something stupid to ruin the marriage. Might as well get out of the way right from the hop.

I think the only way you'd ever be happy would be to give the bulk away. I'd calculate how much was needed to place in a savings account (or multiple) to allow me to make $100K per year + increase at 10% annually while only drawing say 2%. This would allow me to live comfortably and still have some income growth and cover inflation. I would make a few splurge purchases and take my family and best friends on shopping sprees(Maybe set aside $1 million for this). I'd love to be able to head to the local car dealer and tell my buddies to pick out exactly what they wanted. Then, I'd publicly give the rest away and let everyone know my plan. I could be up front about it and let everyone know I don't have any more than an average person you'd meet on the street, so you'd be wasting your time asking for something from me. I think this type of approach would be the most conducive to long term happiness.

With all this being said, I don't buy lottery tickets, so I guess I'll just take the family out to eat this weekend and enjoy that money instead of sending it to government and some lucky winner(s). I'll get more out of my money than millions of people that way anyhow.

I once saw an old PBY amphibious plane converted to a flying motor home. Flying around the Caribbean in one of those could be fun. Fly into a secluded cove and spend the night. Fly offshore for some fishing. Come on man, it's my turn to hit it.
