Who else has Cabin Fever?
It has finally hit me! CABIN FEVER! I'm stuck inside with nothing to do. I've bought every useful piece of camping equipment, gear, electronics that I could possible use.(got a new camper, gotta get new stuff! State Law! I swear it is!) I've researched every campground for a dozen different trips this year and made reservations. I get to the end of the internet almost every day. Now what do I do? I think a lot has to do with my "trial retirement". I force myself not to work everyday, even though I go in and stay most of the day. I don't need another hobby, I have too many now! I think a lot has to do with the need to get away! Who else has the dreaded cabin fever, and what are you doing to combat it?

We will probably de-winterize the TT next week and go camping. We want to escape these 20 degree days and find some 40 degree days. Then I will re-winterize.

If our youngest wasn't still in school, we would be heading south for sure! She has a 4 day weekend this week and I was ready to leave tonight.

Aquaman, you hit it on the nose. I was making reservations and looking at a bike rack setup online just as you post came out. I was looking at the closest RV parks to head out for a weekender very soon.

Wife and I drove through a couple of campgrounds (Loramie Lake & Poor Farmers) just to scope out the sites before the season starts.

x10! Well except for the trial retirement part... ...You wrote basically everything to the tee of what I have done...We just picked up our new 5'er a couple weeks ago...on nicer days I find myself hitching up and just driving it around...I know I am crazy...I tell the wife it's for "practice" which it is but it is also scratching that itch a little...or making it worse...

And they're open year round. You self register and put your money in the box. No utilities.

I know the feeling. I picked up the new trailer (251rks) and have went camping for 10 days in January. Bought a new to me tailgater and receiver on Craig's list and had to try it out. We live in southern Oregon on the coast and it rained hard the entire time but it was just an excuse to check out the new trailer for leaks. This is my first Forest River trailer and so far we just LOVE I t.

Themeads46,
We live in central Ca and wanted to go up the coast to Crater Lake this May. I checked online the other day and read there could be snow up to July? What do you suggest we go to in What do you suggest we research for May that isn't in the snow? Thanks.

It really sucks when you buy a new RV in the winter. We have done this with our last four rv's (we never learn, lol). We did get to take the new motorhome to Nashville for four days after their big snowfall. At least the temps were in the 50's and 60's for our trip. Now the RV is back in the barn and we have a ton of snow on the ground and expecting more next week. Ready for spring before I go broke buying things off the web.

My brother is up there now dozing 10 acres of trees down on the other side of the lake near The Oak Tree. He works for ODNR. Thing is, most of the trees they are taking down are oak and hickory. Will be some good firewood free for the taking soon.

Anywhere along hwy 101 is great in the winter if you don't mind rain. We spent a week at Harris Beach SP and had 4 days of rain and 2 days that felt like summer. The rain is only water and it's not real cold so just ignore it and have fun. Also along I5 in the town of Rogue River is a state park. We stayed there for 3 nights in January and loved it also.

winter blues
Well our three week long trips are planned and campgrounds have been secured. I have been working on the trailer so it now matches the RV with a full wrap on the metal finish. RV has been inside all winter in a heated building which i have access to anytime. Washed it...waxed the entire unit including the roof and roof covers....polished the aluminum on the trailer...installing better speakers on the outside TV....figure we have 6 weeks or so till we get out and start enjoying it...I still work full time and will for 10 more years....Uggg...going to a few RV shows here in the mid atlantic area to see any new gizmos...
Being OCD about neatness and keeping things in proper order has kept me busy this winter...thank god I have inside area to work...in the summer I have a full 50 amp hook up space at a great friends work with secured area...Blessed...

Had a bonfire in the snow once on top of mountain in MT. By the end of the night, the fire was about 8' down. Before we left in the wee hours of the morning, we used a trail groomer to push the snow in over it to extinguish the fire. Good times!
