No offense DH is a walking Jersey cliche... an Italian born in Jersey with the name Anthony. He has the tattoos and gold chains including the boot and horns. I on the other hand am an army brat who grew up all over this great nation with the most time spent just north of Bawlmer.

It's a great place to be from - just not necessarily IN.

Ax-ually, the Garden State is pretty nice, but Pee-Ay is a lot more relaxed, like no rolling radar in cop cars, as well as lower taxes and insurance rates.

When I traveled there, I have to agree it is a beautiful state, just wouldn't want to live there, taxes, regulations etc. Southern folks are just much more friendly and accommodating.

Stills? In the south?

Lived south of the Mason Dixon all my life. I've never seen a still or even heard of one in existence.

We no longer have "revenoooooooors" either.

Contrary to what (evidently) some Northerners think, we don't have webs between our toes either.

During the time I was in NC. I never saw one but I was told to not go out to the woods behind the tobacco barn and now and then there would be "traffic" going in and out late at night.
I am almost sure it was just frog hunters.....

My first wife was from NC., sadly she never went back home.

And I know her toes did not have webs...

You ain't LIVED 'til you've had fried frog legs!

Tastes *better* than chicken. No fat like chicken so it's healthier.

We used to go to a restaurant here that had "all you can eat frog leg night". They'd seat us back near the kitchen doors....wait staff didn't have to walk as far.

There was a large cartoon on the wall; frogs coming thru double kitchen doors in wheel chairs. /snark

If'n you walk up to a still with some money and an empty bottle they'd probably not be too upset, right?

Hey, as many times as I went to Dogpatch USA as a child, I never saw any moonshine.

To tell a family secret though, my mom did actually assist my grandfather when she was real young, in making moonshine up in the mountains of Arkansas.

Probably explains a lot about the way I turned out, huh?

Of course that was back in the day when the water there was as pure as anything. With all the turkey and chicken houses that are now all over that mountain, and the ensuing runoff.....I bet it would be hard to get the same taste. LOL
