By larger what are we using as reference. - wing span, fuselage lenght, payload capacity, max takeoff weight etc.
So what's larger ? The military C-5? This plane is larger than the largest 747.

In the alltime ranking list of airplanes the Antonov with its six engines, a span of 88 meters and a lenght of 84 meters nevertheless only takes second place.
Unbeaten on first place until today ist the legendary "Spruce Goose", a gigantic waterplane built by Howard Hughes with eight propeller engines for US-missions in the Second World War. The "H-4" was longer than 70 meters and had a wing span along which one could have organised Olympic sprint competitions: unbelievable 97,5 meters.
The giant bird however only went airborne for a testing period of about one minute and a distance of two kilometers.

Plus 1 on Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose, but the Antonov is the largest aircraft put into service. Worked on C-5A, B while stationed at Anderson and Travis AFB. Gotta love ole FRED...

Frank - you're right. I forgot about Hughes "Spruce Goose". I saw it when it was on display at Long Beach along with the Queen Mary.
I think the SG is now on display somewhere in Oregon. Quite an engineering feat considering it's made mostly of spruce along with its size.
Just goes to show what a rich (albeit somewhat crazy) man with a dream can do.

Do a Goggle search of the SG - there's some YouTube video of HH in the cockpit before it's first flight. The windows are much larger than they appear in that photo.
