Some of the "youngins" here may not know there was such an airplane, but it was the first airplane (civil or military) that started the underwing podded engine mounting as as well as the 35 degree swept wing design that is common in jet aircraft today.
B47 was a nice bird. A little before my time (AF Ret 84-04) I was a SR71 & U2 maintainer in the late 80s. Last bird worked was the B2.

Yes - they were all gone by the mid 1960's.

West lake would be correct as qccowboy stated.
Big creek there to! Mississippi creek
Almost thought I got ya there.

We cruise that creek in my sister & BIL's 36' motor yacht when we visit them in the summer.

According to Wikipedia:
The B-47 is featured prominently in the 1955 film Strategic Air Command starring James Stewart. The film features good aerial footage of both the B-47 and the Convair B-36. The majority of B-47 scenes were filmed at MacDill AFB, Florida utilizing aircraft from the 306th Bombardment Wing.

I may have to revisit this movie to take a closer look at said airplane. :-)

B47 I really don't know anything about airplanes but I knew a B47 was one. I know my dad used to jump out of planes (retired airborne ranger) and I don't mind flying. I even enjoy taking my DD to the park at RDU airport. It overlooks the runway and you get to watch planes of all sizes land and take off.

Yes - The SAC film has a lot of good B47 footage - but as with all films, there are some areas shown that are for the camera's benefit. The airplanes shown in that movie were earlier B47 models - mostly the B47B model. As the airplane evolved the definite B47 was the B47E.

I am hoping that this thread doesn't get shut down because it deals with airplanes and not RVing.

I am surprised that it has grown as fast as it has and I appreciate Herks letting it do so.

If anyone has any questions/comments please PM me and while I am not an expert, I would try to answer any questions you may have.
