I am towing with a 2016 2500 (gas). I personally wouldn't want to tow with a 1/2 ton. It will be a struggle on any hills. On flat ground you would probably be ok. This is the first 3/4 ton truck I have owned. The main reason we got the 3/4 is because we knew we were going to get the bigger camper. The camper weighs 7500 lbs empty. Once you get all your stuff in there you will easily be over 9000 lbs. The camper salesman will tell you it can be done and yes that is true but you will be maxing the HP out every time and any hills will be a struggle. We love the camper. Good luck.
