If your looking a a Duramax then you get the 3:73 gear. This is good for towing heavy tt or 5es. Now what year of truck may make a difference for gear ratio. Later RJD

I currently have a 1/2 ton, but I am definitely buying up to a 2500 HD. However, most of the ones I see around here have the 3:73 rear axle. So I struggle with the decision in buying the 3/4 ton with the 3:73 or really stretching out 400 miles plus to get the 4:10 rear end. Thoughts?"

ACE, I saw one of your postings on line and noted you had a 2015 Chevy 6.L with the 4:10 rear end. I'm looking to buy a similar truck but most of them here have the 3:73 rear axle. I have a Rockwood 2618 VS (V nose) similar to yours that weighs 6250 dry. Do you think I would be ok with the 3:73 or should I hold out for the 4:10. Any MPG concerns?
