06-30-2012 04:34 PMdanno2uI did my mil time straight out of college for the next 30 years. Just retired in late 2010. My family and I moved 17 times in 30 years serving in places like California, Hawaii, Japan, Texas, and the Azores. Overall I'd say I had 29 great years and 1 year that wasn't so great. Definitely a great experience overall and I wouldn't hesistate to do it all again. Along the way, I served alongside Army soldiers for 3 years -- long enough to learn there isn't much difference between the services, especially anymore. Of course, the main difference is the burden the Army has carried in Iraq & Afghanistan. Airmen didn't see the same hardships or frequency of tours.
So to answer your question, I guess I'm not from anywhere. We started in Texas and retired in Texas but I'm headed out to the open road as fast as I can get there! I grew up driving a tractor in summers on a farm in Childress Texas and living with my mother in Ft Worth.
So are you still in now and just waiting on release? -

And another son who jsut got his carpenter red seal (license) and is making 14$ an hour.
Congrats on the 30 yrs service. I was army - then saw the light and went Chairforce. Was Wing Air Field Security until they disbanded and then went back to army. Just shy of 17 years and because I had a bad shoulder injury service related in 2007 they now are handing me the 3B medical release.
Where abouts are you from?
