Hi Lou. I hae a tape named Quick Roof for Rubber Roofs. I bought it at the RV store here in town. It is made by a company called Cofair. It is 6" X 16'. The exposed wood has rotted away due to water damage. There is a little wood still there but it is very thin and I can see some of the hard foam type insulation underneath the wood. I am afraid that if I use the tape it might peel up the wood. I have a large piece of very thin plywood that I was thinking of gluing down first with Liquid Nails. Then I'd put the tape on top of that. What do you think about that? Monty

So as I understand it you have a 4 Foot by 3 Foot section of wood exposed? Did you buy eterna-bond tape or a patch piece? It can be bought fairly large; rolled up like a carpet. I will try to mail you the link to their web site. The tape is mostly used for small leaks like a scrape or as a preventative to cover seams. MAKE SURE if you go with the tape, that you wipe the top (white part) with EB primer (to remove the release agent) before you stick down the next layer if you stay with the 4 inch wide tape. Read the instructions carefully and follow them. Lou

Oh, sorry it was DiCor sealant. I just automatically say silicone because of the tube. LOL. Thanks though.

Monty I hate to break the news that Silicone Caulk is not your friend on the roof. Most roofs are rubber (yours might not be but...) and, not only will the silicone not adhere properly, but the presence of the caulk will prevent the correct DiCor sealant or Eterna-bond tape from sticking to it.

Find a good RV place and discover what kind of roof you have. Get the correct sealant and spend a nice sunny day tracking down that leaker. You are correct that the "obvious" spot may not be THE spot. Water can travel quite a ways to where you finally find it. Good Luck Pal.

Monty! So good to hear from you. Is everything going ok with you and your moving house? Pope/Ft Bragg was a disaster! Two miles of red mud road and once you got on it there was no place to turn around. I must have had 400 pounds of snot slick red mud on the truck and camper. Worse yet (after one night) we have to drive out again and it was still wet and muddy. We will never camp there again. Got into Foster Creek Naval Weapons Center, Charleston, SC and that campground was like night and day!. Paved sites; free internet; BX and commissary; CAR WASH!

They will hate me for sure since I washed (most) of that mud off there. It was a "filter clogger" for sure. If they had security camera footage of me, I can expect the bill.

We are in Mayport, Florida (Home of the Aegis Cruisers) camped on the breakwater. It was 68 degrees yesterday and might hit 70 today (briefly).

    Stay safe,
    Lou and Laura
