Fed up with the sound from the little 2" factory cheapos...I decided to add a pair of decent quality ones. I chose my long time favorite values...the Polk 6.5" round speakers DB651. I think it is the best value speaker set under $100 sound wise. Not having the 2" depth required to mount these speakers in the ceiling... I got FOUR, Metra part#82-4300 trim rings to stand the speakers off 2" from the ceiling, using the existing wiring and covering the hole left by the factory junk. Tools needed were just a wire cutter/stripper, a Phillips screwdriver and a connection crimper. Had to also buy some crimp connectors to fit the speaker terminals and 8 ea 3" long #10 screws which go into the wood ceiling about 1/2 inch. The foam pad that comes with the speaker must be discarded to make the screws long enough. Sound is clear and balanced and a big improvement. Don't expect a lot of bass installed this way as they need more space behind them for that. Speakers cost $60/pr, Trim rings & fittings about $25 and I paid 5 bucks for a can of Krylon to match the color to the coach. Feel free to ask any questions about the process or components.
