First posting, planning trip to St. Augustine
Hi everybody,

Recently retired and now have the time for our first "long trip".

we plan on spending 5 nights in St. Augustine, FL around the first of May.

Never been there before, would appreciate any suggestions on a campground near the ocean, and some places to visit, besides the most popular.

Welcome from SEPA. Congratulations on your retirement! ENJOY IT!!! Sorry, I have no help for the FL stuff. Plenty of fine folks on here that will be able to help you with just about anything... Even if it is not RV related!

Hello and welcome!
Wife and I just completed our first long trip and traveled and camped all over Florida. Didn't stay right in St. Augustine but did visit the area. We camped mostly in State Parks and in that area we stayed on the beach at Gamble Rogers State Park in Flagler Beach Florida. Right on the beach and pretty nice facilities. There is also a nice State Park right in St Augustine (Anastasia State Park. Lots to do in that area....enjoy!

Anastasia State park is nice. Power and water only with a dump station seperate. Bigger rigs seem to have a problem there. The camp ground is under a thick canopy, and the beach is biking / driving distance. You can walk, but carrying beach stuff will be a pain.

Enjoy your trip!

Welcome from SW Ohio ! We saw a rattlesnake and a NASA launch @ Gamble Rogers S.P. on beautiful A1A. We stayed there when DW retired on our way back from the Keys. Now that I've mentioned the Keys - I'll have to reserve a spot @ Bahia Honda S.P. now. DW says thanks and enjoy !
