Road Debris

First incident with our Georgetown. Small two lane road missed with the front tires what looked line some pipe or angle iron but caught it with the rear. Cracked the fiberglass... From inside it sounded like the entire side was torn off.

Just sick to my stomach... Went 15 with our camp and not a scratch... Not even 12 months and this...

I guess could have been worse....

First trip with our Bounder years back we were on day 3 of a cross country trip. Going the Shawnee Ok area....all of a sudden I saw part of a driveshaft flying across the road. Mostly just the Universal section. I barely missed it with the front tires but not so lucky with the rears. Blew out one of the tires....had a hole big enough I could put my fist through it. Heard the debris then whack the underneath and then the rear.

Spent most of the day in a rest area waiting for a wrecker to help change out the tires. There was no chance I was getting them off by myself. Also damaged the rear bumper as well.

While it was not a new motor home it was new to me and our first and had been well cared for by the PO.

There is a lot of dangerous crap on the roads. Whenever I have gone cross country seems something hits our vehicle at some point...windshields..tires.

Of course I did not have to worry long about fixing the damage to the bumper...a straight line wind shear came through our campground 6 weeks after this and dropped every 30+ foot oak and pine in the campground. Estimated winds of 100+. Dropped a pine on top of the Bounder and came through the roof. Only reason it did not kill my wife and I is that it jammed against another smaller tree and stopped on top of the roof..but blew a dozen holes straight threw.

Hmmm...I think that Bounder was cursed actually.
