F250 or 350?
 
We are waiting the building of our FR 360 PDEK and are looking for a truck. Getting lots of advice...but conflicting..should we get a F250 or 350? Is an 8 foot bed better than a 6.5 footer?

My understanding the only difference between the F-250 and the F-350 is a
extra leaf spring on each side of the rear.

I have a 2014 F-250 6.7L and love it, it has the short bead and I pull a Rockwood Signature Ultra lite Fifth wheel with no problem. I use the
Sidewinder Revolution hitch. It is a super crew cab. I like my short bed for it makes it easy for parking.

When pulling a TT it does not make as much difference the length of the bed on the truck. When pulling a 5th wheel IMO it is much better to go with the 8 foot bed and never have to worry about hitting the cab of the truck with the 5th wheel.
When it comes to the proper truck to pull a 5th wheel from what I have seen the most limiting factor is the pin weight of the 5th wheel on the truck. Most can pull a much heaver 5th wheel than they can carry. So ensure that your truck has a CCC sufficient to meet your needs.

I have a F250 - 2016. The only difference is in the suspension. For $1000 more you can get a F350, my next one will be the F350 verse adding airbags at $1000. Id surly look at adding the 5th wheel prep kit. Best thing I included. Very nice.

Although you did not mention this I would highly recommend that you get a diesel engine in your new truck over a gas engine. You will be very happy with the way the diesel tows the 5th wheel over a gas engine. Just hearing the diesel grunt when going up a speed hill vs the roar and downshifting with the gas engine is well worth the cost.

This can't be emphasized too much. You need to decide if your truck (whether it be gas or diesel, F250 or F350, short or long bed), is going to be a serious tow rig, or luxury on wheels. The more bells and whistles you have, the less the CCC will be.

350 all the way. IT will give all the room you need. I would rather have too much than not enough.

With a 2300 dry pin weight get a 350 or you will be over your GVWR before you even load anything into the trailer.

Depends upon the exact truck you find up buying also ways look at the yellow sicker on the door. But a F250 SuperCrew cab can carry about 2700 pounds, a F350 SRW SuperCrew can carry about 3,300 pounds, a DRW F350 can carry about 6,250 pounds all the above numbers are for 4x2 drive lines with the PSD 6.7 engine. So it depends upon how much you plan carry and tow. Hope this helps some in the decision process.
