New Recall!

An NHTSA Recall was found for your vehicle.

NHTSA Campaign ID: 16V465000

Manufacturer: Forest River, Inc.
Model Year: 2015
Make: FOREST RIVER
Model: FORESTER
Recall Date: 20160627
Component: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TAIL LIGHTS

Potential # of
Units Affected: 1999

Summary:

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Forester motorhomes manufactured June 10, 2014, to May 25, 2016, Sunseeker motorhomes manufactured April 4, 2014, to May 25, 2016, 2015-2016 Solera motorhomes manufactured February 28, 2014, to September 17, 2015, and 2016 Isata motorhomes manufactured October 30, 2015, to May 26, 2016. Water may leak into the electrical module that controls the vehicle taillights, brake lights, turn signal lights, clearance lights and marker lights, making the lights inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence:

If the rear brake lights fail to illuminate, following motorists may not realize that the vehicle in front of them is stopping. Inoperative taillights, clearance lights and marker lights will make the vehicle less visible to others. Either condition can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy:

The remedy for this recall is still under development. The recall is expected to begin August 18, 2016. Forester, Solera, and Sunseeker owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-206-7600. Isata customers should call 1-574-262-3474. Forest River''s number for this recall is 51-06012016-0206.

I wonder if this is for the MB chassis units only.

brucemc 07-27-2016 04:22 PM

Both of my LED taillights had an inch of standing water inside the fixtures after 3 days of rain on our 1450 mile trip - I was wondering what to do about this, but if they are being recalled, I'll see what FR/the dealer will do about replacing them.

Thanks for the info!

What model do you have?

brucemc 07-28-2016 12:05 AM

It's in my signature - a 2016 2250 Sunseeker.

I have a 2013 Forester 3011 DS and have the same issue. Do I have any recourse?

That recall is for a Mercedes chassis only.

Does anyone know where the culprit lighting module is located on the MB Class C Chassis. Is it a poorly worded recall which in reality is talking about the tail light fixtures? brucemc mentioned above about about water collecting in the tail light fixtures. Mine have not collected water, but if this is the module in question, perhaps they can be sealed without having to make the long trip back to the dealer when the fix becomes available.

middle, underneath the unit, sort of behind the bumper area.

It may have been a mass distribution to cover the entire field but the recall was specific to Mercedes.

michael621 09-07-2016 08:26 AM

Wonderful, thank you, I will not worry about waiting for a fix.

Just FYI, the recall notice came from Good Sam recall notification center.

benagi 09-08-2016 12:25 AM

Our Forester 3171ds came from the factory to the dealership with moisture in one of our taillights and the dealership order a new one right away and replaced it. Been good since.
