Stinky galley vent pipe

I have a 5th wheel rockwood 8281ss 2006
We have owned this since 2009. The galley vent pipe comes out just below the window on the door side. We always get a terrible smell whenever my wife washes dishes and we are at the table. I have rinsed several times, used every method under the sun. Is there a something im missing, cant get this under control...

Welcome.
Just washing out doesn't get the oil or grease out of the galley tank. You may have to find a degreaser and back flush the tank if you can and flush again.

I'm sure other may help with more suggestions.

Wow, what a horrible place to put the vent!
Sheesh!! What were they thinking!
I've never heard of a vent that didn't go thru the roof......

We use gray water treatment from the RV isle at Wally World.
It's lemon scented.
Wife also uses lemon "flavor" dish detergent.
When I dump tanks the gray tank smells like a freeking lemon-aid stand.

You might give it a try.
If it's as bad as you say, you might consider making some sort of extension
that you could stick in the vent opening that would extend up the side and end above
the roof line. Something removable that you'd only use when camping and could
remove when traveling.

It's a thought.....Good luck!

Your under sink galley vent is broken IMO.

It should only PULL air into the trap, never let it out. The gray tank is vented to the roof over the gray tank. The photos I found of your rig on the Internet (post here a photo of what you are calling the outside kitchen vent) show no place for a vent stack to go to the roof. In that case (like my vanity in the bathroom) my money is on a black plastic "no vent" vent being used under the cabinet. This prevents "burping" your trap under the sink when you run water into it. Burping lets gas from your gray tank enter your camper through the sink trap. Take a photo under the sink an see if the vent goes to the outside or terminates in a black plastic "cap" (the vent).

No vent thingy or do hicky. No really the pvc runs from both sinks to a y fitting from there one goes up and out below my window and the other goes below the camper to the tank. I really apreciate all the feedback and help.

Good Lord! Photos would help here.
What does it look like on the outside?
A hole in the wall?

I have attached pics you asked for. Talked to a few dealership service techs today, got me nowhere. One told me they rerouted a few of that style behind the refrigerator then up the roof. I cant see how that was done without cutting structure out. One is vent pipe with cover removed close up, the other is a vent pic with cover removed distance pic, then cover attached . The under sink pic shows a pipe coming in from the left that is simply attached to a p trap and the two drains of both sink sides.

Thanks for the input. My awning is on that side and my door is right there so I cant get anything to the top easily at all.

I have the same setup. I would recomend flushing the tank really good and use a gray water treatment. I has a similar issue and once flushed and starting using treatment never happened again.

Thanks, finally someone else on earth with a poorly designed rockwood sink vent !! I have rinsed that thing and let it set i dont know how many times. I always use the green stuff that smells like mint on all tanks. I use only four ounces and i use it before and after each trip. What is the brand you use. I have bleached the tank today and let it set overnight. If this does not do it I may look into rerouting under the camper up to the vanity or shower vent.
