fussy generator
Proud owner of a new Forest River Georgetown, 340TS. It's a 2006 but new to me. My generator works great except when making left turns. It shuts itself off. I can restart it no problem. Checked electrical connections, OK. Any ideas?

Not familiar with that generator set up, but a few things in general. Turn the wheel to the left while sitting still. Try a very slow left turn. This should eliminate anything shorting out. Check fuel in generator tank. May be low and sloshing away from the fuel pickup point. Good luck.

Generators in motorhomes have their fuel intake above the 1/4 mark on the main tank, therefore if you are low on gas or close to 1/4 and the fuel sloshes away from the intake the generator will loose fuel. Also, if it is an Onan I have found them to be a bit temperamental over time and may be in need of a good tune up. Could very well be a carburetor float problem.

In case you don't have the manuals for the generator which should be a Onan. here's a link to their site and you can look up any info about maintenance etc.

I'd be interested to hear what the outcome is since we have a Onan as well.

Enjoy your Georgetown!!

thanks for the info, full tank of gas, will not do it on a very slow left turn and this generator is a Guardian 6500. Any new ideas?

Guardian is made by Generac. Here's a link to them. Maybe there's something there. Good luck!!

Here's the link that Guardian is listed but for owner's manuals it will take you to the above website Generac Homepage.

Most generators also have low oil cut off.
Are you sure it's absolutely up to the full mark on oil???

The Generacs have a diagnostic LED. Does it blink?

no light, Generac says they don't know???????
oil is good but now wondering if the oil level sensor may be bad.
Any thoughts?
thanks so much to all of you for helping.

My bet is-- if it's not low fuel it's low oil or a low oil sensor.
Still just a guess.
