Stuff on Slideout

So this is the first camper we've had with a slideout. We've only had it out once, and we noticed when packing up that there were a fair amount of leaves and debris on top of the slideout (no topper). We noticed because of the crinkling of the leaves as we were putting it in.

Our solution was to boost our daughter on top of the camper to sweep off the top of the slideout. We were able to do this because we were camping with friends and he was tall enough to get her to the roof - it's not something I will ever be able to do.

So my question is: What do you all do to get the leaves, pine needles, and debris off of the roof of your non-topped slideouts before retracting? I can't imagine that this stuff can be any good for the seals.

I have a flip-down storage rack on the back and it didn't come with a ladder.

I would buy a ladder or put on slide toppers, you might forget your daughter is up there and get her hurt when you bring the slide in? Youroo!!:D

A leaf blower and a long nozzle extension with a 90d bend in it. :roflblack:

I also have a factory fold-down rack on the back of my trailer, and it came with a ladder with a bottom section that folds up so the rack can come up. Getting one of those ladders from FR might be an option for you, as there will be other reasons you'll find for having access to the roof.

I use an electric leaf blower from a ladder.

Here's a trick my brother taught me. Cut a piece of carpet the length of the slide from trailer wall out and attach a cord to each end. Drag it back and forth and it will clean it completely. Don't know how it will do with snow as we camp in the south.

Rockwood 2703ws picked up yesterday. first trip tomorrow.

Buy a topper and install it.

OK - so let me ask a more basic question:

How do you get on the roof to use a leaf blower, broom, etc.?
Can you add a ladder to a camper without damaging the roof?
Do you carry an extension ladder in a storage compartment?
Carry a flexible pole and get a running start?
Get the wife to stand on your shoulders?

Many RV's come with a ladder already installed.
I would recommend you contact forest river before ordering or trying to install one on your RV.

Some roofs can handle the weight and some can't
