Ford is Number 1

I had no doubt but these guys just proved it again. Not a lab test just some guys towing. The ford even had more weight.

Ford gets less mpg than the Ram. 9 sec is nothing. I'd rather sit in a nicer truck for 9 sec longer. Plus the Ram still uses the proven CP.3 HPFP. No grenadine issues like VW, GM and Ford which use the CP.4

Black 11-12-2015 01:46 PM

Never had any doubts on that...I'm on my 4th Ford pick up !!

B and B 11-12-2015 01:55 PM

I am on my 6th Ford Pickup since 1980, had 3 Ford work trucks and one Chevy they bought back due to explosive engine issues! Had 3 Econolines as well and one other GMC Safari that was worse than a Chrysler Minivan for reliability, thats saying a lot!

I just learned of those issues with the CP 4.2. Fuel pumps fail, this one just takes rest of the fuel system with it. They've improved it, but not eliminated the risk. Many owners of cp 4.2 trucks swear by additives to add lubricity.

Canadian owners don't see as high a failure rate as their diesel isn't as dry and more uniform than US offering.

I've never heard anyone claim a Ram is nicer than a Ford. :roflblack: My understanding is that most people buy a Dodge for the Cummins and just accept the fact that it'll be in a Dodge!!!!! :D

I guess you didn't watch the video all the way thru. The driver of the Ram said it was the nicest inside of all 3 by a long shot. It's all subjective of course.

Happy Vibe 11-12-2015 02:50 PM

There is no comparing the interior of the RAM compared to the Ford. RAM is much nicer and the infotainment system works.

dustman_stx 11-12-2015 02:56 PM

It is all subjective. And I have heard that Ram has some nice interiors on the super expensive trim packages. But my budget is more suited for the XLT/XL trim level- and in this area the Dodge is very poor IMHO. The seats in particular on the ones I recently test drove are flat and thin- very uncomfortable.

KenHwy61 11-12-2015 05:00 PM

The Fast Lane Truck videos are fun to watch but they are usually just a race to the top with a heavy trailer in tow. The Ford 6.7 is going to win because it puts out the most HP. My Ram with the Cummins I6 may rev a little slower but nobody else can even come close to matching the proven durability. Cummins High Mileage

schrederman 11-12-2015 06:45 PM

I'm always amused by these brand-loyalty threads... Mine's better because I bought it and I'm never wrong! :p :D I have had several Fords, and all were really great trucks... no doubt about it. However, when I comparison shopped, Ram came with everything I needed, and everything the Ford had to offer, for about $6K less money. So far, my Ram's been as good as my Fords were, and gets better mileage. What's not to like? All that being said, GM screwed me twice on one warranty issue, and I swore off of them. I have no real brand loyalty... but I do have one brand I'll always be disloyal to... Screw me once... shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me.

I could've considered a Dodge truck but now "Ram"? And "Ram Bighorn?" That is just so transparently and adolescently macho. Silly minded.

Seems that people are voting with their dollars. Ram has made a lot head way against Ford and if Ford 2017 update isn't a hit just maybe Ford could be second in the HD sales in the near future. If Ram would fit in my garage I would of probably be driving one now :trink39:

I don't keep them when warranty is up - Gas or Diesel. I can see a 2017 F350 in my future if they make a SuperCab that will fit in my garage.

All the brands use Western themes and manly sounding names. Powerstroke, King Ranch, Duramax, High Country, Ram Big horn. Silly perhaps, but men want tough trucks with tough sounding names and truck marketers know this. There is a reason trucks don't come in pink.

Go outside late tonight and listen real good.....follow the sound of rust hitt'n the pavement and there you go!

bob caldwell 11-12-2015 10:54 PM

Or, wait till a frosty night, walk the 'hood' and look for the one with no frost on tailgate....it'll be the one with the heated tailgate....Ford tak'n care of customer base again....so there hands don't get cold push'n it off road...

Uhhh. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Ram say not to put a camper on the back of a 2500 at all because of the wussy coil springs??? RV delivery driver I was talking to the other day said his DMax was in the shop so he had to rent the Ram 2500 he was driving to make this delivery. Said he HATED the way it handled. Just wasn't planted like his Chevy always felt. I pointed out the coil springs he wasn't aware of.

drittal 11-13-2015 09:12 AM

It's satire, bud. Nobody is putting a 5,000lbcamper in the back of a 3/4t. Let's rephrase that, nobody with half a mind.

The power wagon is the only 2500 model that recommends no slide in camper. All the others are ok if you stay within limits. They are a pregressive rate coil and sag less than the new F250 with their light leafs.

For the record, I like my 2500 ram.

Never said anything about sag. Said something about stability. I've never towed with one, but the RV driver that pulls for a living I just talked to was complaining about the handling characteristics and he wasn't even aware of the coil springs. Glad you like it, though. Bud. :D

moparguy 11-13-2015 10:02 AM

I am a loyal Dodge owner and have been since 1996 but I sell a lot of F550 service trucks and I am not a fan of the 6.7 Ford engine. I have had several replaced at around 30K miles. I was told the other day that the 450 and 550 chassis has the engine detuned and that was the reason they have so much engine problems but not for sure. The Cummins is a proven engine and I will stay with that until Ram quits installing them which I hear they plan to.
