The back of the couch with drawer is screwed on from behind with 4 screws, made to detach. The Sleeper does separate from that also. That's on my 2014.

I Use tow haul every time. Allows transmission to downshift and use engine for compression braking. saving your brakes. A big plus on hills. Try it with and without you can tell.
