Finally walked in there with a can of WD40 and gave it a talking to, then pushed in a different place and pulled in another -- and that was the key. All good now. Thanks for everyone's help.

That's what I thought too, but it feels like it's stuck halfway. We've never used it for a bed. Maybe the hinges, if that's the right word, are stuck due to years of disuse. maybe a shot of WD40...

how to open sleeper sofa on 2015 Solera 24R?

I thought it was a simple matter of pulling up and out on the main seat, but it appears to be stuck half-open. Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Yes, a single screw lets it down or up, and there's a spring base that gives it some flexibility. I can send you a photo, but cannot figure out how to post a photo on the forest river site.
