Yea, it doesn't take much knowledge to be a salesman in the auto industry. Like BigTdx said, keep it out of OD and keep your rpms up in the max torque range.

On my ram, it doesn't turn off the OD but delays the shift point just like all the other gears. Tow mode keeps from lugging and protects the transmission from overheat.

A lot of it is individual preference and not so much of the truck's ability. can tolerate a transmission that shifts up and down constantly on overpasses, slight grades etc... I sure these trucks...

Totally agree, my Chevy has 9000 pound tow rating and it could not handle 5000 adequately.
