Best Pellet Grill Under 1000$

I am looking for a pellet grill that has WiFi and app control options. Due to tax and weight, I am going to have to import this grill for $600-800. This reduces my budget, but I have about $2000-2500 depending on how far I want to stretch it. Can You recommend me best one in this budget?

I have a Pit Boss Laredo 1000. I absolutely love it. My father has one too and he loves his also. I use mine 2x or more a week. It works over wifi and/or Bluetooth. They just updated the app and it is really nice now. It also has two meat probes that are also monitored by the app, you can set up alerts for when your food gets up to a certain temp, above and beyond all the grill controls.

At less than $500, it meets your budget quite easily. And as you probably guess, it has 1000 sq. inches of cooking surface, so it's large.

This is my second Pit Boss, only because I left the cover off my older model while it was out in the rain. My father still uses both of his older ones no trouble. The rain did not hurt it, but the pellets got wet and expanded inside, and while I was working on it, I messed it up - I forgot to unplug it. New control board is only $39, but I wanted wifi controls anyway.

Wow. Did you just open up a can of worms. Grab your popcorn and wait for the (biased) opinions.

For what it's worth - - my biased opinion is Green Mountain Grills. Any of them.

I have two Traegars, however, Pit Boss, Camp Chef, pretty much any of the brands out there I do not believe you can go wrong with any of them. I have friends with all different brands and I have not turned away a meal from any of them.

I have been watching this thread and really expected it to explode with responses. How wrong I am - - again. So much for my powers of prediction. Sometimes it baffles me which posts get traction and which don't.

I was going to make the Austin my new Pit Boss then the Laredo came out. Glad I waited. I don't think the Austin has wifi, but I do believe that Pit Boss has released a wifi control box for it though.

I currently own a Traeger Ironwood 885 and really like it.--but it crosses the 1k threshold. I've only had it a few months. Prior to that I owned the Green Mountain Grills Daniel Boone which is the middle sized model. I really liked it, I just wanted something larger. If I was going to spend under 1k I think I'd go with that one. Z grills is a budget brand that supposedly gets high marks as well. They're currently doing a blind box where you're guaranteed to get one for 399 dollars that retails for a minimum of 479 on up to as high as 699 depending on which model comes in the box.

Thumbs up recteq

I also agree on reteq grills, their products are great and their customer service is the best out there.

Green Mountain Grill

My son bought me a Green Mountain Grills- Davy Crockett smoker three years ago. It is small enough to take with us camping. We use it several times a week smoking and grilling everything from fruits, cheese, meats, and veggies. The temp control is spot on and the with the ability to grill as well as smoke it is very versatile. The GMC has all the bells and whistles but best of all is their customer service. As I said this grill is used a lot even in the winter so things do wear out and all it takes is a call and a new part is shipped free of charge. That is service that cannot be beat, it reminds me of the old Fantastic Fan company before they were bought out.

my opinion is they're all good. I have Camp Chef and two of my sons have Traeger, neither of there's have separate smoke and temp. settings and I've found that to be the most important part. I can almost cold smoke anything. Also the Camp Chef has a searing option, a plate slides out from over the pellet heater allowing direct heat. I smoked and seared a Rib Eye and it was one of the best I've eaten. I've had about any smoker combination you can imagine, from a sawdust fueled Little Chief, charcoal round guy with water pan, then propane. Pellets are so simple I'm super spoiled.

Pit Boss also has that sear / sliding plate thingy.

I'm "old school", because I'm old probably, I was using a traditional fire box type smoker with pecan and oak logs until 4 years ago. There is no going back. Pellets rule.

Don’t get a pellet smoker!

What ever you do, don’t get a pellet smoker! It will ruin you for eating steaks out at restaurants ever again! (Learn how to do a reverse sear and steaks will never be the same)

I’m on my third Traeger, I have friends that go have the Green Mountain products and my son has. Pit boss. They all work better than any other grill/smoker for the average joe. I don’t have the patience or skills to cook on a good offset smoker but I can turn out excellent meats on my Traeger. The WiFi connection on any of them is important. Bluetooth will work but has range issues at my house.

I now have a 20” Traeger that I took the legs off of to keep in our RV! (No WiFi on it so I have to use Bluetooth temperature probesJ

Wish me luck! Trying my first brisket on the pellet tomorrow/Sunday. 18# shipping weight. I make killer pork butts but brisket has been my nemesis on the propane smoker

From someone who lives in the brisket capital of the world (central Texas), no brisket should ever be made on a propane grill!

I semi like my gmg davy Crockett( it's more user problem than grill). I bought my daughter and son inlaw a pit boss for Christmas and they seem to like it. It has a pellet dump feature I wish my davy Crockett had.

All this talk has got me wanting to do something this weekend on the davy Crockett assuming I can find meat. Everyone here is panic buying in anticipation of Hurricane Ida.
