I did compete on the circuit for about two years. The best...and I mean the best BBQ smoker on the market today IMHO is located here...this is after cooking on an EGG, Cookshack SM150, Lang 60D, and a Trager pellet cooker..

They are a little more extensive, but rain, sleet, snow, or hail...these maintain temp.

I am a tried and true Kinsford Blue becasue of the consistancy and the fact that you can find it pretty much anywhere. If you Competion cook, its hard to find a consistant supply of lump. Ive dumped out bags that had 3' sections of hardwood floor in it for example. Either way, good deal on the cooker! I'm starvin...

I've had a Large BGE for about 6+ years. It rocks. Here's the advantages:

Frugal with fuel
Stable temps in any weather
Built to last FOREVER. I swear, mine might outlive me.
Depending on how you count, 3 moving parts.

Sure, the price might seem high, but you can buy a Backyard Delorean at any Garden Store for way more. My last visit to Home Depot, they had two grills that were $2200! (those same grills will be $1100 mid summer, of course)

And for someone who worried about it breaking - a friend of mine accidentally rolled his into a groove on his patio and it tipped onto the concrete (no drop, just a tip), and it was fine. The nice green glaze was a little scuffed, but, could be worse. I've heard that the ceramic they use is "soft" not "brittle"

I'm TRYING not to buy a little Egg for the camper.......

Also, I like to smoke chicken thighs on mine. Stupid simple and TASTY. Cheap cut of meat, too. Here's what you do:

Rub thighs in KC style rub
Place in disposable foil pan
Pat of butter on top of each thigh
Smoke at 250-275 for 2 hours
Remove, cover, and rest for 15 minutes.
Eat.

I also bought my RV at Cleveland RV show in January and received a free XL green egg. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, I have had a large egg for years. It is the best smoker out there. You can set the vents and keep that sucker at 250 degrees for 22 hours. Anyone in Ohio want to buy a new XL Green Egg in the box?

We just did a curry vegetable slow simmer in a cast iron dutch oven and you can imagine the flavor and texture. (if you like that sort of dish, granted not everyone does)

Hey Gang,

We too bought a new Motorhome at the Cleveland RV Show. I have a brand new "XL Green Egg" still in the box. It's up for sell! Send me a note or PM me if interested.

We live in SWPA about 30 miles west of Pittsburgh.
