Pie iron stand or rack for easy access

We don't use our pie irons enough because it is a struggle to get them out of the trailer compartment. They are kind of heavy and the handles get tangled on other gear. I think I've solved that problem though with a full-length storage bag from Rome. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/pie-...B&gclsrc=aw.ds
Next....once I get the pie irons out, I would like to leave them out for the duration of the camping trip. I've seen a few ideas for storing pie irons in a rack or stand near the campfire for easy access but nothing appeals to me. Has anyone made a stand or rack to hold pie irons and roasting forks? I realize the irons will have to be protected from moisture unless I want to deal with rust. A simple plastic cover will be sufficient I think. Can I see your ideas please?

After I read your post I started looking at Pie Irons online.
Seems Rome is the way to go?
Most places online want $15 - $20 or so for the 1705.
Why is Amazon so expensive for the 1705 ($34)?
This will make a great B-day present for DW. Just a little confused about quality and price.

I was thinking about this the other day. I have been looking for the aluminum extrusion that mates to the rails on the passenger side of the trailer for mounting grills and small tables.

I don't use mine for the grill, but it would make a great place to hang things like pie irons, mount a paper towel holder and other convenience items. Once I find that extrusion I will make a board to hang that stuff on.

Check amazon, looks like what the Dr ordered.

Mount a table top to one and the other to the side of the camper. For the OP cut slots on the side of the table to hold the fireside utensils. .

We like our Rome pie irons. If you treat them right, they will last forever! Many years ago, we bought some cheap ones from of the big box stores and they warped the first time we used them.

Not sure this will work. I'll have to check measurements to see if the "T" will fit over the extrusion on the side of the TT. I know it's made somewhere. There was a section on the stove in my PUP. I just need to know what it is called or where it is made. Thanks for trying.

Around here, state parks (where we mostly camp) have wooden picnic tables. The Rome pie irons hang (vertically) nicely in between the boards of the picnic table top. They rest on the wooden handle.
Alternatively, we'll set them in the grill until cool.

I haven't seen that done before!! It's not a bad idea at all and a quick and easy solution...certainly better than taking up space on the table or seat. Thank you!

My TT has one of the swing arms for our propane grill mounted to the back bumper. I've thought about something to attach to that swing arm for pie irons, roasting sticks, etc. If anyone's done anything like that, I'd love to see a photo or two!

2nd time I have posted this because it never showed up after 1st try. Don't know what I am doing wrong.

Added a shelf on the drivers side next to outdoor shower for dish washing and personal hygiene (shaving, face washing, etc). Works for us. Easy on and off.

Smile

I saw that but it only holds two pie irons and looks kind of awkward....maybe a trip hazard. Thanks for your suggestion!!

That looks like it! I will verify it is the same profile I have existing on my TT. I really like the idea of the table next to the outdoor shower. Gonna add that to my list.

If you want to match the profile of the OE this may be a better fit.

I found this one right away. I was interested in the mating part. The 2 part one you posted yesterday looks like the way to go. I will need both parts for what I want to do. Thank you again for your superior Googling.
