Resetting your Blackstone...Always your first step.
I am so grateful for this forum. I was using my 22”Blackstone with a 20 lb. bottle tonight. I had always either hooked up to the trailer or to a pound bottle. But tonight I used a 20 pound bottle and got incredibly low heat coming out. The left-hand burner was putting out very little flame and when I turned it off the right hand burner got substantially larger but still not as large as it should be. I have 10 people to cook for this weekend so I was starting to get a little bit testy. Finally it occurred to me that the first step should be resetting the regulator. It worked! So the moral of the story is, if you’re not getting good heat then reset the regulator. It is not difficult to do. In fact, it’s pretty simple to do. I found the best way to avoid that step, though, is to just turn the gas on very slowly from the start.
Thanks y’all!

What did you use to go from the 1Lb to the 20Lb? I purchased a new hose on Amazon and had exactly the same issues. I ended up buying the correct one from Blackstone as apparently it is propriety. The ones on Amazon are not rated for the BTU required by the Blackstone and it chokes the gas flow.

I bought a 4’ hose from my local Ace hardware. It’s basically this one but in the standard black rubber. You use the regulator that comes with the griddle. Just remove the bottle and screw the regulator into the brass end.

Although not a Blackstone I have seen Weber Q grill bulk tank instructions that say to slowly open the 20LB tank all the way and wait one full minute before trying to ignite.

how exactly do you reset a regulator? I understand turning on slowly... do you mean turn it off then turn it back on slowly? or maybe

I was wondering the same thing.
I'm wondering if it is not the regulator, but rather the high flow safety valve in the pigtail...?

How to Reset the Propane Regulator for a Gas Grill
Step 1
Open the cover lid on your gas barbecue and turn all burner dials to the OFF position. Turn the shutoff valve on the propane tank to the OFF position by turning rotating the valve in clockwise direction until it is fully closed.
Step 2
Disconnect the regulator from the propane tank shutoff valve by twisting the knurled mounting knob in a counterclockwise direction. The regulator should now simply pull away from the propane tank valve.
Step 3
Open the burner control knobs on the grill fully. This will release any pressure in the gas lines. Wait 30 seconds for the regulator to reset itself.
Step 4
Reattach the regulator to the propane tank shutoff valve by threading the mounting knob back onto the valve. Screw the mounting knob in the clockwise direction until it is tight.
Step 5
Open the propane shutoff valve slowly by turning the valve handle in a counterclockwise rotation. Test the grill by opening the burner valves and using grill's controls to ignite the burners. If the grill still refuses to operate correctly, the regulator may need to be replaced.

GlowPlug thx for that explanation...
I posted this on a previous thread... FYI
get these on amazon and make your grill blazing hot, low or in-between... just a very small twist of the red regulator knob on the hose

I've had the same issue with the hose/regulator that came with the 22" Blackstone kit (griddle, lid, stand, and hose regulator). When the low heat issue happens, I just close the tank valve, lift and drop the tank a few inches, the open the valve VERRRYYYY slowly.

If I wasn't averse to carrying around another propane tank... I'd invest in that Binford 3000 propane adapter setup!!!

I have the Blackstone 17” griddle and love it. I use the 20 lb cylinders on my RV they the rear propane quick connection. You have to buy a hose and the adapter to screw onto the black stones LP connection. Never have had a problem yet in dozens of uses. If you season this thing nothing will stick to it.

As you can see, the Blackstone is working great now. We took it on the pontoon and stopped coming back from the Fishing Creek dam. Hotdogs and chili. Mmmm Mmmm good!

As an aside, how are people transporting the 22" because it is a beast. I was considering splitting the unit in two and making boxes for the two pieces. top and base. Still have a dilemma as to where in the TT it goes.
